Fast Heartbeat

"Tens of thousands of years ago when dragons still roamed on the surface of earth, a wise dragon passed down a prophecy to the old monk. The prophecy was not known by anyone but the descendants of the monk. It said that when this nature will face a crisis to its existence, a dragon and its fated mate will meet. The future of nature will depend on their actions."

The monk narrated the prophecy in the form of a flowing poem. The poem mesmerized the listeners, but unfortunately they couldn't understand the words of the prophecy.

The monk knew that the listeners won't understand his words. He sang the poem because it was a ritual, which his master told him to perform. That ritual would wake up a power that could protect the world, the protector of nature.

While anyone at the moment couldn't see it, the dragon tattoo on Fang Bai's chest glowed in a blue light. Fang Bai felt a little burning sensation in the area but he calmly rubbed his chest, feeling a little bubbly inside.

This feeling only happened a few days before he could sense Lei. Usually there was still one or two months for that, but since this feeling started earlier… Is this a signal that the monk's words about Lei hold some truth?

Fang Bai directly ignored the poem which only he could understand but couldn't care to pay attention to.

Tang Rong and Duan Wei were a little absent-minded. Their minds said that everything was just a stupid fake coincidence but their gut feeling said otherwise.

While Fang Junjie and Mr. and Mrs. Feng couldn't understand anything from start to finish.

After the monk finished singing, Fang Junjie spoke, "Respected monk, can you please explain what you said to Xiao-Bai?"

"This... benefactor Bai knows what I am talking about, doesn't he?" The monk smiled at Fang Bai who decisively stayed quiet, "Benefactor Junjie, it seems that your younger brother will soon find the happiness of his life. It is there waiting for him somewhere in the South."

While Junjie still couldn't understand everything, he continued for his brother, "Is there a place that you can specifically point out in the south? There are so many places - City V, City Z, City U, or maybe even the southern countries."

"City V" The monk's answer was concise and he didn't say anything more despite the urging.

Tang Rong and Duan Wei again stiffened.

The vacation Rong Qing planned for all of them was also in City V. They couldn't stop goosebumps coming all over their skin when they saw the monk looking at them with a tiny smile in their eyes.

The monk changed the direction of his gaze and looked at Fang Junjie's forehead where some stress lines seemed to form vaguely.

"Benefactor Junjie seems to be burdened with some thoughts. Sometimes, rather than fearing what will happen, the best decision would be to do what your heart says without thinking too much with your brain. Life may give you surprises which you never even thought about."

Fang Junjie was surprised by the sudden change of topics. He didn't know if the monk was aware of his thoughts but now he wasn't completely confident to deny. When Fang Bai himself didn't deny what the monk was saying to him, how could he make claims that the monk was lying.

It seemed that Mr. and Mrs. Feng wanted to ask some more questions, but the monk did not give them any chance to speak.

"Again, my advice to Madam Feng is the same as the last time. I want to emphasize that these four boys are all each others' powers. When they all stay together, they become each other's most protective cover. That's what I wanted to say to you all. Please wait… Revealing anything else is out of my ability. Now that I've fulfilled my purpose, I would ask the benefactors to excuse me."

While leaving, the monk thought- 'Since there seem to be two fated pairs, I don't know what the future will turn into. Amitabha!'

After the monk left, Mrs. and Mr. Feng seemed to be confused by the sudden strange words of the monk to Fang Bai. Everyone enjoyed the shade of the tree while having peaceful conversations with each other. They all unanimously decided to leave everything on time.

Mr. and Mrs. Feng declined Fang Junjie's invitation to the evening party as they had to monitor another orphanage about which they received complaints about corruption and mistreatment of children. If it was really the case, then they would have to inform the army about it. They blessed Fang Bai and returned back.

The four young men also returned to their home.

In the car, Fang Bai checked his phone and looked at the messages from his subordinate and Li Jin. He found a new message from an unknown number.

[xxxxxxxx: Happy Birthday man. Take any of the latest models of the cars in my garage except my baby.]

He knew who the person was. Casually replying with a 'thank you' with a good mood, he clicked on the subordinate's message.

[0037: Boss, I checked the boy and saw he went to a bank. He seemed to have withdrawn a large amount of money and then sat on a park bench with the bag of money and fiddled with his phone for a long time. From my connections in the bank, I found out that he had opened an old account and merged it with his current account. My friend said it was some sort of inheritance account.]

[0037: Boss, another thing I noticed is that the boy bought a huge portion of food, it can be equal to 4 adult men's portions. The food seemed to be full of calories and randomly bought portions of vegetables from any stall.]

[0037: It's been 2 hours but the boy is still on the park bench. He did not stop eating the food and ate in a few intervals of time as if to digest it. It is really abnormal. Also, he did not make contact with any person he met. The boy seemed to avoid social interaction but he quickly found anyone who looked at him for more than 5 seconds. I am still monitoring from the public surveillance cameras.]

Looking at these messages, Fang Bai was still expressionless.

[Fang Bai: Continue monitoring from a distance. No need to be desperate if you can't monitor him.]

Then, he clicked on the message from Li Jin.

[Li Jin: Senior, by what time should I reach your house?]

[Fang Bai: ~~Location~~ Time : 5pm]

After forwarding his home's location and timing, Fang Bai exited the messaging app.

He proceeded to inform the other three about the new guest.

*Evening*

Decorations were all over the house. Duan Wei, Fang Junjie and Tang Rong were busy arranging the snacks, drinks and movies that they would watch while having fun. Loud music was playing in the room and everyone was vibing.

Fang Bai was placed on a sofa and asked to do nothing. Well, doing nothing was rather tough work for him. Thankfully Rong Qing arrived earlier than expected or he might have protested.

"Happy Birthday Fang Bai you dummy!"

"Thanks Qing-Qing. Where is my gift?" Fang Bai randomly took a cushion in his arms and leaned slightly on the sofa, his legs freely hanging."

"You have to wait for it. So what gift did these crazies give you?" Rong Qing observed him and checked if he was really relaxed or was still thinking about work.

"Okay… Ge-ge gave me a very beautiful group photo of all of us when we went to the beach that day. You remember how we had to return in just 3 hours as we were busy? I never knew we had any pictures of our sunset moment. That was really a surprise."

"Oh my! I also want the pic! Even I regretted not having any pic that day. Yes, I remember that day very well. But I really want us all to spend some holidays together, like having actual fun."

"Yeah, let's think about it."

Rong Qing was really surprised when Fang Bai did not immediately disagree with her proposal. It seemed like she would have to do less persuasion this time and she could save energy to plan out their trip.

Before Rong Qing could continue testing the waters, the doorbell rang. Fang Bai who found an opportunity to stand up was again pressed on his shoulders from the sofa's back, and ignoring his funny whining, Tang Rong went to open the door.

As he opened the door, he saw a well-dressed young boy with a slightly serious standing outside. As the boy saw him, he dodged his eyes and immediately looked at the ground.

Tang Rong was dazed for a bit but he immediately gathered himself and smiled.

"Welcome, Li Jin!"

In a hurry after liquidating his finances, Li Jin had gone to a random showroom and bought the dress suggested by the female staff. He was completely oblivious to how cute he looked with his doe-like eyes and beautiful eyebrows creased to form a serious face. His suit accentuated his thin figure yet thick butt making him look like a tempting bunny.

Li Jin was stunned after looking at that carefree shining face of that familiar solemn man. He did not know what he was feeling at this time. But he smiled politely and greeted him back.

"Hello senior! I hope I am not late."

"No, you are absolutely on time." A second voice sounded from behind Tang Rong. Li Jin walked inside behind Tang Rong to see an attractive tall muscular young man holding a tray of drinks. That guy who usually showed a dominant aura in the uni was now looking at him with a completely different aura. His attractive face now sported a handsome yet cheeky smile.

Li Jin now felt like his heart was out of his control, it seemed to be beating very fast despite him not doing anything at all.
