Zeldris frowned when Kael told him that Ava wouldn't be back until later. What business could she possibly have? She never left them alone outside of work before unless it was to walk the dog. He didn't like this.
The elf didn't seem happy either but wanted to respect her wishes. They watched TV in a tense silence for nearly two hours before he felt like something was wrong.
"She should be back already," he said sharply.
"Be patient," Kael complained. "You've already said this at least four times."
"I'm serious! Something must be wrong. I'm going to check on her."
"Lady Ava will be furious with you! Stay put; she will be back soon enough," he scolded.
Zeldris couldn't shake this antsy feeling. Something was going on and he needed to check it out. "I'll be right back," he said flatly before putting on a different glamour than usual so Ava wouldn't spot him and teleporting to where he felt her blood bond pulsing.
