Apologies and laughter
The distant, exhilarating voice of Caro reverberated through my ears, resonating with excitement. As I slowly opened my eyes, I found myself surrounded by a sea of pure white. It enveloped me, stretching out like an expansive sky, wide and open, filling me with a sense of peace.
Gently shifting my gaze to the left, I knew that he, Carl, was sitting beside me on a small hospital stool. Memories of our arrival together flickered faintly in my mind. The last thing I could recall was stepping off the elevator before everything faded into a void of darkness.
Now, lying on the hospital bed, a pristine white sheet draped over me, I felt a cool sensation beneath my skin. Looking closer, I noticed a slender tube connected to the back of my hand, delivering transparent drops of glucose that cascaded down, finding their way into my body, nourishing me.
