Chapter 61

The next school day, Leonardo spent the morning watching Mikhail Mxyzptlk. While it was a bit unfair to suspect the guy due to a television show. He was easily able to find out this guy was the person he was looking for. Hence as lunch rolled around, Leonardo casually snuck into the Consular Office.

Once inside, he quickly got to work hijacking the speaker system. Once he was good, he pulled out a small device that was about the size of his hand. Then in an instance a sound that couldn't be heard by human ears began to play throughout the school. After which he waited ten minutes before determining that Mikhail Mxyzptlk can't use his abilities anymore and put everything back in place.

After leaving the office, Leonardo grinned as he passed by a former couple as the girl smacked the guy. Even without super smell, something he dislikes due to being a school full of teenagers, the guy smells like four other girls. Of which came around the corner and each delivered a slap to him.

'I would say poor dude, but how did a guy that is thin as a twig and clearly not gifted in money nor look hook up with five girls at once? By their insults he wasn't very gifted at pleasuring them either.' Leonardo curiously wondered about such a situation.

In the end he decided not to care about it much, since it wasn't his problem and the girls took their revenge. Besides the slap and a few harsh words they left him alone. By the sound of his mutters, he already expected such results and moved on to his next girl.

'If this guy doesn't end up in jail in the future. It would be almost a miracle.' Leonardo thought to himself.

--

"Strange." Leonardo muttered as he looked at the scene before him.

After school, Leonardo was with Jonathan as they were looking at the McNally Farm. Jonathan wasn't completely sold on the idea of buying a farm from an old friend. However, he decided to come to look at it and show some interest in buying it. For he felt it was better than allowing the Luthors to expand their influence in the town.

For why Leonardo tagged along, since it was his idea. Jonathan asked him to tag along with him. Which he didn't mind much for it broke his routine of just either painting, writing or farm work.

While Jonathan was chatting with Jed, Leonardo lightly scanned the ground. While he discovered mostly rocks with the occasional mouse or snake skeleton. What he found more surprising was the amount of bodies buried in the field. Many were decayed from what he guessed to be years while the most recent seemed half a month at most.

'Jed left town about three weeks ago and stopped by to chat with Jonathan. Apparently he went to look at a machine that supposedly improves crop harvest. Only he returned disappointed from Jonathan's words due to the large price tag attached.' Leonardo thought with a frown.

He was slightly confused since Jed McNally is a fairly nice man. He also learned from Clark and Jonathan that the man was very honest and could barely bring himself to J-walk in town. However, he also knew from the show that due to the second meteor shower, Jed brought in a bunch of illegal immigrants and buried them with his meteor power if they escaped.

It's just that the meteor shower didn't happen or not yet. So bodies shouldn't be appearing in his field like this yet. For the man doesn't have many farm hands or the few he does are from the local area.

Then a frown hit him for once this breaks, Jonathan and most of the people who know him will rush forward to protect him. Since if he guesses correctly, Jed is allowing his farm to be used as a dumping ground for other killers or is a serial killer. He felt his guess is closer to the latter since if he allowed others to dump bodies they would be paying him a decent price.

Not only that, he could easily spot around forty in this one area alone and if he guessed right. Then, Jed has been active for over two decades if not longer since the oldest bones he found is over twenty five ish years give or take.

Leonardo just sighed as he continued to survey the field. While most of the skeletons mainly seem to be from females. Due to the pelvis and skeleton structures, there were a few men among them as well. Probably a few pimps if he had to wager or some sort of street thug due to the jewelry.

It seems that it wasn't money nor greed that drove them to be killed, but just the pleasure of reaping their lives. Which made Leonardo pause since he glanced at Jed and looked him over as the man was in his forties to early fifties.

'Jed does have a son. However, that wouldn't make sense. From Clark and Jonathan words, the two had a falling out years ago and from what they heard. Jed son was involved in a fatal drunk driving car accident and is currently serving prison time.' Leonardo thought so he dismissed that possibility.

Which left Leonardo weirded out since he's been living next to a serial killer for a few years now. A killer who is clearly proficient in what he does and clearly doesn't feel like bragging. Otherwise the police would have arrived at his doorstep and invited him for a chat.

--

In the end, Leonardo waited until they arrived back at the farm to tell Jonathan about the corpses. Which, like he guessed, didn't believe or want to believe. Hence Leonardo decided to inform the police and since Jed had a few friends among the police force of Smallville. He had to be a bit sneaky about it.

So the next day the news swept the town like a wildfire as a large number of skeletal remains were discovered on McNally Farm. Many who knew who the man was were left speechless. Since this came out of nowhere and rumors have it the number isn't small.

"I never expected Jed to be a killer." Jonathan sighed.

"Most of the stable and smart serial killers tend to blend in. Besides, he hasn't been formally charged yet for the bodies." Leonardo shrugged.

"You seem to know a bit about serial killers." Jonathan grumbled.

"They are a fascinating topic to study." Leonardo shrugged. "My brother studied them for a while during highschool. A bunch of television dramas and movies were coming out about various killers. Hence it got him interested in them for a while."

After a moment of thinking. "Also I won't claim to know a lot about killers since there is a bunch to consider and factor in. So while I am no Sherlock Holmes, I do know quite a bit."

"Then what do you think of Jed?" Clark asked.

Leonardo rubbed his chin. "He is the killer, but his methods seem really mature if the signs on the oldest skeleton I saw are to go by. Hence he was probably taught or left his first few victims elsewhere."

Flashing through his mind as he recalled all the skeletons. He decided to off-handley add something else. "At least there are no teeth marks or scraping so he isn't a cannibal."

"Alright, boys, pick a new topic." Martha interrupted clearly having enough of this topic. "Thanks to this the Murder Mystery Event is canceled."

"So, Clark, are you ready for your last football game?" Leonardo asked.

"How do you know it's the last? I have a chance of getting a scholarship for college you know?" Clark grumbled.

"If you take such a scholarship, I would be fairly disappointed in your choice, but whatever." Leonardo answered.

"You're not the only one." Clark's eyes flickered over to Jonathan.

"Son, we aren't going to make a choice for you. Yes we will feel let down if we don't agree with your choice, but it's your choice." Jonathan said.

"Speaking of college, Leo, what are your plans?" Clark attempted to shift the topic away from himself.

Leonardo thought about it. "Don't know yet. Writing and painting is enough for me to live on, and Aurora seems to have some ideas to start a small studio of some kind. Hence I will probably just help her for a while maybe. For what kind of studio it is, I don't know yet."
