"You Are the Reason"

Sing," she whispered in his ear, and stepped away. As the darkness around him took her out of his sight, the soft melody of "You Are the Reason" by Calum Scott began to play. He closed his eyes and began to sing.

"There goes my heart beating

Cuz you are the reason

I'm losing my sleep

Please come back now.

There goes my mind racing,

And you are the reason

That I'm still breathing,

I'm hopeless now.

I'd climb every mountain

And swim every ocean

Just to be with you

And fix what I'd broken

Cuz I need you to see

That you are the reason

There goes my hand shaking,

And you are the reason.

My heart keeps bleeding,

I need you now.

If I could turn back the clock,

I'd make sure the light defeated the dark.

I'd spend every hour of every day keeping you safe.

I'd climb every mountain

And swim every ocean.

Just to be with you

And fix what I'd broken

Oh...cuz I need you to see

That you are the reason."

As the song ended, Judah inwardly cursed himself for singing the song. He'd opened a whole flood of emotions he prefered to pretend didn't exist. He struggled to gain his composure as memories haunted him.

"Where are mom and dad?"

"Judah? Judah, you okay?"

"Why are all these people here? Shiloh? What's happening?

Judah shook his head to clear his head of the memories that taunted him like bats circling his head.

"No! It's not true! I wanna see mom and dad! Shiloh, please say it's not true...Shiloh...please..."

"Judah!" Judah opened his eyes. His eyes once again adjusted to the light around him.

"Are you okay?" He smiled weakly. She quickly changed the subject. "That was beautiful, Judah."

"It truly was," a man's voice interrupted. Judah quickly swung his head around noticed a group of important looking men and woman sitting around the room wiping their eyes. A man with silver streaks in his hair appeared to be the leader of the group and the one who had spoken.

"Where've you been hiding that voice? And such...soul...?"

Judah turned to his sister. "What is this?"

"That is one of the greatest music producers in history, James Lovelace with Platinum Records!"

"Platinum Records? Presumptuous eh?"

Shiloh ignored him. "Anyway, his daughter got in some hot water with the law and I defended her and he told me he did not know how to repay me and..."

Judah cut her off. "You told him to listen to me sing?"

"Exactly."

Judah sighed. "And why did I have to be blindfolded into all this?"

Shiloh smiled. "Would you have done it otherwise?"

Judah didn't answer.

"Well I for one am glad I heard you." James Lovelace patted Judah on the shoulder. "You have a voice! And I see great things in store for you. Who knows maybe someday you'll be so thankful to your sister you'll call her up and sing a duet with her." He laughed loudly.

Judah looked between the two.

"Okay. You both got me into this. What's next?"

Mr. Lovelace put his arm around Judah's neck. "Work."
