"What do you mean they are bigger?" I stood on my feet, almost falling to the ground. Over the years, I've learned to have extreme stamina, but after hearing what Estelle said, I couldn't even imagine.

"How would a magically appeared tattoo suddenly grow bigger?"

His life has been a nightmare, one he wished would go away soon, but instead, his life was getting dramatic by the day, pulling him into a trance.

After successfully begging Estelle to keep it away from his parents, she finally accepts, but on request, he stays away from Jessica.

....

When they got to the library, Nicholas stayed back in Estelle's personal space. His hand gently rubbed the tattooed wrist. Estelle told him it was the number eight written on his wrist.

He couldn't forget it, the pain he felt on his fifth birthday, along with nightmares that spooked him off his feet.

....

Five tears old, Nicholas blew the candle on his cake. Jared, his older brother, who was ten years old, cut a piece of the cake and dipped it in Nicholas's mouth. They were so close, never apart, not until that night.

As they slept in their room, a heavy storm poured down on earth. Their window burst open because of the intensity of the wind. Jared woke up and tried to shut the window, but he couldn't. Rain was pouring in their room, the cold as much, and it wasn't safe for his five-year-old brother.

Jared tried to wake Nicholas up, so they could go to another room, but Nicholas was deep asleep. He was trembling in his sleep. Jared could see it. He yelled his name as often as possible, but Nicholas was drawn deeper into his nightmares.

In his nightmare, he fell into a well, and he kept falling as if the well was a bottomless pit. When hitting the ground, there was a woman covered with a veil, holding a dagger and attempting to kill him. Nicholas screamed so much that their parents burst into their room.

They woke him up and tried to calm his nerves, but since then, the nightmares have never stopped. Instead of the woman covered with a veil, he saw a blonde killing a man. The following morning, Estelle noticed the tattoo on his wrist, and they had kept it secret.

.....

"Here are peanuts." Estelle's voice interrupted, placing a bottle of peanuts on his desk.

Her hands raveled his hair, and then she kissed his cheeks.

"You know I love you, right?" She whimpered in his ears, and Nicholas only chuckled.

"You are the only one apart from my mom I've heard that from. Even my dad thinks I'm a lost cause." He placed his hand on hers.

"He is blinded by your troubled mind. No one in their right senses can cope with all the strange things going on with you."

"I've always known you aren't in your right mind."

He laughed and suddenly became frozen as he felt a sudden temperature change. The chilly weather suddenly felt warm.

He moved his head to his left, where the heat was more intense. He stretched him in the direction. The farther he went, the lower the heat.

"I know this feeling." He mumbled as he stood on his feet. "Does this mean..." He was confident that Jessica was somewhere close. He could feel her close.

"She is here." He muttered, standing on his feet with a smirk.

"What are you excited about?" Estelle looked around and couldn't see anything. They were in an enclosed room. "Who is here?" Estelle was getting paranoid. Her brows creased as she hit Nicholas on his head.

"Are you crazy?"

Before she lifted her hand to hit him the second time, Nicholas had disappeared from her sight.
