Savagery

Appearing behind Nail, Amir quickly moved his arms, making the dagger in his right hand slash the base of his opponent's neck.

He held his left hand tightly on Nail's body to prevent him from escaping as his weapon moved toward his opponent's weak point.

A sound of flesh being cut came from Nail's neck as this man opened his eyes considerably, feeling the sudden end of his life.

'How?' That was the only word he could think of at that instant, profoundly regretting his recent decisions.

Meanwhile, screams were spreading around that warehouse as the servants of Mero in this city were killing the men of Nail's group little by little.

Tenur had told them after they left the murder site of Shui and Nail's men that that middle-aged servant should not be alone. Whoever they were would probably run away or attack them to prevent news of their actions against Mero from spreading.

Because of this, all of Mero's slaves and servants in Cusca on the present day, Amir, the three men leading one of the Touma family's materials delivery caravans, the local slaves, and those in this caravan, prepared for this fight.

Instead of sleeping and resting for the next day, something both the local Mero underlings and the travelers needed, they positioned themselves expecting an attack.

After hours of waiting, these people saw Tenur's words come true. With this, the four men finished their waiting and began to practice their skills.

The six men with Nail were good warriors, considering their humble origins and inadequate training. However, even if they were experts, this would not help them much.

Unaware that enemies awaited them, they fell into Tenur's trap, being surprised with blows against their vital points without much chance to retreat.

Amidst the darkness, the first four met their own end almost simultaneously, leaving only two behind when Nail was mortally wounded.

At that moment, the slaves at this post, except for the women and Tenur, were already standing in front of the doors and windows of the place with wooden logs in their hands.

They were not trained to fight like the men of Nail and the servants there. But these were violent men, thirsty for blood!

So when they saw two individuals from that group realizing what was happening and deciding to flee, most moved to prevent this escape.

Five enemies were already dead, so these were the last hopes of these men with suffering lives to have some fun!

The two were surrounded, and with no chance of challenging so many opponents simultaneously, they soon lost their weapons and began to be beaten!

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

"Ahhhhhhhh! Mercy! Please, mercy!" One of them screamed like a pig about to be slaughtered, crying out for something that did not exist in the hearts of those men.

Tenur saw all that from the second floor of this warehouse, noting the savagery of these slaves, who, with kicks, soon managed to kill the two remaining enemies.

Mero's servants allowed the slaves to vent their frustrations on these men, moving away from them to avoid sparks of rebellion.

Men like that usually walked in line, afraid of losing their lives to one of their masters' servants or even running out of food and shelter. But at a nervous moment like that, one could put aside the thoughts necessary for survival and make a mistake.

Knowing enough of human nature not to risk it, those servants went to where Tenur and the women were to wait for the savagery to end.

"You got it right once again, Tenur," Amir commented, seeing this fellow watching that massacre.

"Someone must be on the run with the coins Shui has gathered over the past few years." He said, realizing the opportunity to get those coins back. "You guys should go after those people. I am sure they are not as strong as those men and are taking their chances in the dark of night to leave Cusca."

Those men looked at each other, not knowing what to do in that situation, as they had to control those slaves.

Amir then said. "Why don't you three stay here? I will search the city for possible runaways."

Tenur looked at that man and said. "Stop by lord Mero's store. Ask for the cooperation of one of those two brothers who should be there now."

Amir nodded affirmatively and left that place to settle this as quickly as possible.

He didn't know where the fleeing enemies might have departed from. But as someone who had chased slaves and fleeing enemies before, this man knew enough of what someone on the run would think when trying to leave a city.

He would simply follow these toward the likely exit points from the city of these people rather than searching for them around the city.

Tenur stood next to the people who were left behind, seeing the concern of these people.

The servants feared these men might take their violence out on them instead of calming down as they should.

But then, Tenur positioned himself on the balcony of the second floor of that warehouse and shouted for all the slaves to hear him.

"All of you, calm down. The enemy is already dead!" He said loudly, speaking in a somber tone, while his foreign accent attracted the attention of everyone there. "Don't forget who you belong to! Remember the rules!"

Those slaves gave Tenur ugly looks, but those who were more used to him, the ones from this post of the Touma family in Cusca, lowered their tempers.

They greatly respected this foreigner and would not let the moment outweigh the many amazing things they had seen Tenur come up with.

With 11 individuals dropping pieces of wood and stopping kicking the bodies of those two enemies, the other slaves did nothing extreme at first.

Some wanted to tell that foreigner to go fuck himself, angry at his meddling. But with so many of them moving away, calmer than before, some even lost the 'fire' that had made them uncontrollable moments ago.

Without that 'fire,' it was challenging to continue acting so wildly at the risk of being punished by their superiors.

Ultimately, even those most inclined to react against Tenur were forced to take a deeper breath and calm down.

The servants saw those men moving away from each other, heading towards their respective resting places.

All that was left behind were the two brutalized bodies, with their heads blown off, thoraxes crumpled as if they had been crushed, and arms and legs broken at unnatural angles.

If Tenur hadn't stopped them in time, those men probably would have devoured the bodies of their enemies, something extremely savage, but that happened in some circumstances.

The three saw that this man was much more valuable than he seemed and very intelligent and changed their perceptions of him.

"Thank you for your tips and efforts, Tenur." The group leader commented after sighing, feeling that he would not be able to sleep tonight.

"That was nothing. I'm just serving my purpose here." He said, staring at the remains of his enemies. "By the way, shouldn't we check these bodies? Maybe they have things of value to lord Mero."

"Hmm." The leader indicated for those two to perform this collecting service as he stood next to Tenur.

"Do you think Amir will have any results in his search?" That servant asked.
