I, Luca Winter, would assist and help Ayana Winter on her revenge plan and would never harm and hurt her. In return, I will ask for something Ayana Winter possesses and she had to give it to me willingly as the payment of my help.” Luca said casually. Ayana frowned as she looked at Luca. “Is it my father's journal?" Ayana said as she looked at the man, voicing her suspicion. Ayana noticed as the man's smile freeze for a millisecond. The man tried to act casual, but Ayana has got her answer. Ayana smiled as she finally got the response. The man was after her father’s mysterious journal. “I will give it to you if it is on my hand,” Ayana said still with a smile on her face, "and if not, you would have to ask for another thing with a similar value, take it or leave it." In her heart, Ayana promised to herself that she would never claim the book as hers, therefore Luca would never have a chance to claim it as his. She cannot believe the man, but she knew she needed his help if she wanted to make evident progress in her plan.

Rejection

Luca smiled as satisfaction filled his heart as he looked at the girl's stern and cold attitude. He expected that. Although other women either would be too afraid to look at him and rejected him.

"You need to trust me first. I will tell you what I want after that," Luca said with a mysterious smile. The overload of sweetness in his voice disappears, but his soothing tone still makes Ayana restless.

"Why should I trust you? Is that one of your ploys to get rid of me? You hate humans, right?" Ayana asked, with a disbelieving expression on her face. She would start to think that the man in front of her is crazy for proposing such a condition. They were definitely strangers. Now she became even more curious about the man's scheme and excuse of why did he pretend to be nice to her. She had heard lots of rumors about him and his being nice to strangers was never heard of.

"If you trust me, everything I planned will go smoothly and yes, I hate humans, but you don't need to worry since I don't hate you," Luca said with a smile.

Ayana smiled sarcastically. She would never buy those kinds of words. Why did she suddenly become an exception among other humans? They had just met in less than a month.

He must have said this to any other human before and killed them after that, Ayana thought inwardly.

"What plan? Is killing me also included? I believe that whether I trust you or not will not change the result," Ayana said in sarcasm. She wanted to provoke the man, but her limited knowledge about the man didn't bring her anywhere. It was like she was poking a cloud. Her words did not affect him at all.

The only thing she knew about the man is his hatred toward humans and his long list of achievements in military District 2. In short, the only thing Ayana knew about the man beside her is that he is great.

"I won't kill you since you are my dear wife," Luca said with a chuckle.

"Please stop calling me those cringe names when we are alone," Ayana said with a forced smile. She knew that they were married, but listening to those words from his mouth plus that kind of endearment would only make her terrified of the man. Or maybe disgust.

"But, you are my beloved wife, right? I was not wrong by saying that." Luca asked with an innocent voice.

Ayana got irritated as she saw the man's playful manner. She took a deep breath to control her emotion.

"Stop joking around. I know you hate humans, and you are forced to marry me. It must disgust you to utter words like dear wife and the likes since you are not fond of me. You don't need to convince me otherwise," Ayana stressed every word. She was curious why he still acted this way when they were alone.

She had some trustworthy informers from District 2. They said that almost all the elders and higher-ups refused this arranged marriage because of her bad reputation. They didn't want their son or grandson to marry Ayana since they heard many bad rumors about her.

In the end, Irene pushed her own grandson forward since this marriage has something to do with her plan with District 5.

After a minute of silence, Ayana heard a chuckle beside her. She turned her face to Luca and saw the man smiling at her in amusement.

"What was so funny?" Ayana frowned. She was really confused about the man.

"My dear innocent wife, do you think there is a person outside there who can force me to do something I don't like? Hmmm?" The man said teasingly.

Ayana glared at the man. She hated it when people called her innocent. The man's next words cause the uneasy feeling inside her heart to increase rapidly.

All her anger just disappeared in an instant as Luca's words sank into her mind.

Does it mean that he married me willingly? But why? What is the reason? That sounds even more stupid now. He was a great general from District 2. Why did he want to marry a girl with a bad reputation like me? Did he do this to confuse me? Ayana was in a daze as more questions popped up in her brain.

"I just want your complete trust. Just follow what I told you without any question, and maybe I will tell you something you want to hear after that," Luca said as he shrugged his shoulders.

Ayana blinked as she looked at Luca with a bewildered expression, "Something I want to hear?"

"Yes," Luca said confidently. Ayana frowned as she looked at the man in front of her. She cannot find any sign of a lie, but she cannot trust that kind of judgment since the man always looks honest when he bluntly lies in her eyes.

Why do I never find any kind of news, articles, or even rumors that Luca is a crazy man? He is really talking nonsense now. He does not know me that much to know something personal like what I want or dislike to hear.

Ayana raised her eyes and met Luca's calm eyes. His eyes looked like he knew something about her. He really knew what he was talking about.

Ayana slowly took a deep breath as she made her decision.

"I cannot trust you so blindly. How do I know you won't push me to my doom? Your request was too vague. I need to know more about you and your offer before signing this blank agreement, so, no, thank you," Ayana rejected the man's offer. Everything was too risky, suspicious, and uncertain for her.

Did the man really know what she wanted to hear? If he did, how did he know something like that? Even Ayana didn't know what the man meant by 'something you want to hear'. It could be something trivial or something important.

"You just have to, dear, you have no choice," Luca said as he pulled Ayana and kissed her lips forcefully.

Ayana was dumbfounded for a moment as she cannot believe what happened.

Luca took advantage of Ayana's stunned state to part her lips and pushed his tongue inside Ayana's mouth. Ayana was startled as she pushed Luca away and wiped her lips with the back of her hand in disgust. Her eyes were full of rage as she stared at the man.

"Please don't be angry, dear wife. Your expression was so tempting that I cannot control myself," Luca said shamelessly, making Ayana's face turn red with anger.

She has never been this angry before. And the worst part of this situation is that she was too shocked and too angry to hit the man's face perfectly. She clenched her fist the more she looked at the man's smug face.

She was ready to attack him when she saw Luca turn around. When her hand was about to touch the man's back head, Luca grabbed her hand.

"I don't want to interrupt, but we have arrived," Luca smiled and then kissed her hand before the door was suddenly opened.

"Wife, let's continue our conversation after this. There are still a lot of things that I want to say," Luca said as he steps out of the car and waits outside. He didn't wait for Ayana's reply.

Nico was the one who opened the door and he blinked in surprise when Luca quickly walked out of the car. He took two steps back and looked at his master. Is something happening inside the car? What was that?

"Step back and wait for a moment. My wife needs some time to fix her makeup," Luca said as he closed the door.

"Master, there is something on the corner of your lips," Nico pointed out.

Luca nodded his head and swiftly brushed the corner of his lips with his thumb. A smile formed on his lips after that.

Nicolas who looked at that scene slowly lowered his head.

Nicolaus' voice made Ayana realize something. She looked at the back of her hand and found red smudges from the lipstick.

Ayana hurriedly took out some tissues and cleaned the lipstick stain before reapplying the lipstick. She was glad the kind stylist told her to bring the lipstick and powder along with her. She was not a person who would bring such a thing in her bag.

As she reapplied the makeup, her mind was busily thinking of everything. She was so confused. Her mind could not grasp what had just happened. Did she miss something in a millisecond she blinked? Why did Luca act like that?

Irene grunted when she could not find the reason for the man's odd behavior.

"What holds you here?" Irene's voice was heard from the front door.

Ayana turned her head toward the voice when she saw Irene gracefully walk down the stairs.

"My wife needs to fix her makeup for a little bit," Luca said with a smug face.

"Oh, God! Why did you have to make her cry just right before meeting your parents?" Irene sighed with annoyance as she looked at Luca's ignorant attitude.

"You don't have to worry about that. She is stronger than you think," Luca said reassuringly, although Irene knows better not to believe her grandson.
