Chapter 47: A visit to the doctor

Her mind screamed No. Her stomach turned with the memory of what had happened on his cruiser. A repeat was to be avoided. 'I'd really rather just give it away completely if you don't mind. I'm pretty busy. I'm in the Hunter tomorrow and I won't be back until Wednesday afternoon.' She was talking too quickly.

'I think we should talk, I'll make a reservation at the Trianon for Wednesday. Eight suit you?'

Noel grasped the phone. 'Honestly Nick, I don't think there's any point.'

'There's always a point, honey. I can wait.' He hung up.

She licked moistureless lips with a dry tongue. When she had settled to articulating level she buzzed William. 'I've just rung Nick,' she said quietly, hands cupping the mouthpiece. 'I've told him.'

He was curt. 'Good. What did he say?'
