Humiliation

The woman glanced up as Arix walked in.

Their eyes met briefly. The woman gave Arix a polite nod, but there was no warmth in it.

Arix wasn't surprised by her new roommate's chilly vibe. After all, they were kind of like rivals. If they could manage not to get in each other's way, that would be a win.

Arix returned the nod, then moved past the living room and opened the door to the bedroom that had her name on it.

The room was simple and not too big, about 15 square meters. It had the basics: a bed, a desk, and a small wardrobe.

Arix thought about letting Cupid and the others out to play but quickly remembered their constant displays of affection in the psychic world. She rolled her eyes, thinking she'd had enough of their lovey-dovey antics for one day.

With a tired sigh, she started unpacking. She put away her daily essentials, toiletries, bed linens, and clothes. Just as she was about to flop onto the bed, she heard a knock on the door.
