"I have to stop my mom from going, Aunty. Dad asked her to leave us. Why?" Little Adrian was saddened by what he heard and tried to break free from Cassandra's hold.
Even at the age of four, Adrian was able to tell the difference between two people who were happy and those who weren't, and in his parents' case, they were not happy at all.
He wanted to confront his father about why he thought Emily should never meet him and stop his mother from leaving, but Cassandra's interference prevented him from doing so.
"Adrian, your mother does not love you. She left your father for another man."
Adrian's eyes filled with tears as Cassandra's words hit him like a ton of bricks.
"She doesn't love me?" Adrian muttered, and as he saw Cassandra nod at him, tears started to fall from his eyes.
"No, this is not true. You are lying. My mom loves me a lot. You are lying," Adrian refused to believe her.
