Dillon didn’t respond at all, but he looked sad and hurt. Darby agreed with Riordan’s assessment of the situation, but he also sympathized with Dillon. He gently squeezed Dillon’s hand, and he was relieved when the younger man beamed at him.
“Everything will be fine,” Darby reassured Dillon. “For all we know, the council may have done something to tackle the situation. Maybe the representatives are too busy with their individual tasks right now, and they don’t have the time or opportunity to inform us. After all, this can be considered as an emergency, and they have to move fast.”
Dillon’s expression brightened up slightly. “That’s possible.”
“Enough about that depressing topic for now,” Darby said. “What kind of dates do you like? Let’s start from Dan.”
“Sex dates,” Riordan responded instantly, and Dillon snorted.
Darby guffawed. “I mean, something like a nice dinner at a restaurant.”
