A Challenged Man's Ascension

What if one day, you wake up and find yourself with a power that defies common sense, a power only seen in fictional stories and wielded by stupidly powerful individuals? Would you decide to uphold justice? To bring chaos and destruction? Or something else entirely? For Blake, well, he wants to do many things, but certainly not these two boring tasks. Hey, I'm a new writer. English is not my native language, so feel free to give me your opinion about the story so that I may hopefully improve my writing.

[Good luck, host]

...

In an apocalyptic scenery filled with molten rocks and blood red magma.

The fiendish landscape filled the crimson sky with sulfuric ashes, and turned the hellfire like liquid into a burning sea of fire and desolation.

Amidst the giant volcanoes, infernal pits occasionally spewed out blazing jets of fire, sending despair to those below in the form of devastating strikes of magma.

What was the strangest thing however was its ecosystem; life seemed to be inexistant, yet strange looking plants could be seen prospering in the impossible environment.

Some were taking on the apparence of a good looking 'fruit' luring potential preys towards their disguised mouths.

While others, more ruthless and hostile literally uprooted themselves and directly attacked anything entering their vicinity.

And in one of the most "lively" corners of this plane, a giant 'building' was 'floating' above a crevice of unfathomable darkness. The imposing behemoth was multiple kilometers wide and a height that would put to shame the tallest of buildings. And inside, deafening guttural noises resonated inside of a giant infrastructure while hordes of various creatures looked at the wide battlefield in thrill and excitation. There, a half naked man was running for his life as he was being chased by reddish bipedal monsters while occasionally dodging a few claws and tails, and punching holes through skulls and chests.

'You know system, when you talked about a special quest in order to test my qualifications, I imagined something less... intense for this old body.

Blake dodged the approaching enemy and got behind him, protecting his body from an incoming fireball

'But when you did that 'thing, I knew something fun was about to happen, and now I feel both happy and regretful.'

He threw the charred corpse towards a screaming banshee, then suddenly, an enflamed fist grazed his left cheek and the half pondering Blaze countered with a low kick followed by a sonorous hook towards the beast's chin, sending it flying towards the walls arena.

'Happy because I get to kick some monster's asses'

The fierce warrior dodged another attack and bent towards a fiend

'And regretful because only a masochist would accept that special quest of yours '

A left knee flew towards a horned humanoid goat's stomach, effectively stopping his dash. The crazed demon madly screeched in pain before puking out a lava like substance.

'And I'm now considering the fact that I am perhaps a masochist'

Escaping from a timely ambush, the man kicked a hyena looking thing and sent it towards another demon behind him.

'To summarize, I would have usually insulted and given you a piece of my mind but..'

With an inhuman speed, Blake moved towards another reddish monster. And powerfully swung his leg, deeply embedding the latter into the monster's belly and sent it fly towards the crimson sky.

'I enjoy this too much to complain!'

With a loony grin, Blake roamed the imposing battlefield under the cheers and screams of uncountable amount of demonic creatures as he quenched his thirst for battle with the blood of the fallen devils.

...

A few hours earlier, in a strangely well built large tent made up of bone like materials.

*Screeeee*

An unholy scream resounded stunning all creatures near the settlement, followed by resounding sounds.

"What happened, did a succubus bit off the chief's treasure again?"

A large, ferocious demon asked to an another demon, as both seemed to be guarding the huge tent.

"Shhh don't say it out loud, Bor. You don't want the chief to remember that event, do you?"

The other demon was thinner and far less muscular than the other, but had a vicious and calculating glint in his eyes. Yet at this moment he looked as cautious and fearful as a cornered animal.

"... You're right Valk, let's just do our job and see what's happening inside,"

said the serious looking Bor.

"After you." Said Valk

"..."

"Alright." Sighing in exasperation, the stoic Bor cautiously entered the tent followed by Valk courageously standing behind the imposing stature of the other demon.

As they entered the place, they witnessed a strange, bizarre scene.

A three meter humanoid wolf looking creature kept smashing a giant sword against a transluscent blue barrier. It had curled up darkish horns, blood red eyes and a red fur seemingly becoming redder and hotter as the angered wolf kept swinging his weapon.

And inside the barrier, an old man was peacefully sleeping with a smile on his face.

"How dare you appear before me, you puny little thing! And you even have the audacity to sleep? Preposterous!!"

Boosted by his words, the wolf's attacks got stronger and stronger, faster and faster. Yet the barrier stood strong to no avail, shielding the seemingly defenseless old man from his deathly giant sword

"Chief, what happened," looking at the devastated piece of furniture around him and the wrinkled thing in the barrier, Bor wore a face of confusion.

"Good timing you two, help me extricate this annoying sardine from his tin can!" The angered wolf proclaimed.

"Who is this, chief and how did he appear in our base." the small Valk could not help but ask.

"That's what I would like to know, enough questions and help me break this thing!."

The two underlings then unsheathed their weapons, a terrifying mace was holded by Bor, and on his side, Valk gripped a light but sharp looking sword. Then, they attacked...

And under the might of three powerful demons, the barrier... did not even showed signs of weakening.

*Uff* *Uff "What is that thing made of?" An exhausted and stunned Bor wondered.

"I don't care, all I want is to annihilate this vermin from my hut as soon as possible! Are you even trying, you useless scums? It seems you've been slacking off lately, I'll teach all of you why I am the chief, you bastards.."

As the exasperated wolf verbally abused its guard, a sleepy old man woke up from his deep slumber.

[Host has arrived in the special quest's location]

Hearing the familiar voice, Blake slowly opened his eyes and saw what was unfolding before him.

"System?"

[Yes]

"Why is there a furry talking sh*t about me and why can I understand it"

[Host is currently in the Zek'nir realm]

[Host is able to understand most languages with the system]

"I thought it was only limited to earth though, guess I was wrong", muttered old Blake.

"So what is that special quest that you hyped so much for years?" And that's the moment where Blake regretted for the first time asking something to the voice in his head.

[Host will have to survive and kill]

[The more you kill and survive]

[The better the rewards and evaluation]

Silence ensued... even with years passed with the mysterious voice, he could not have seen that coming.

"You can make jokes? Not bad, you almost got me. But sending me to die against furries is not the type of stuff I'd laugh at."

"Wait, you're serious?"
