"Welcome to café of hearts." My name's Sophia i've been working here for the past five years. I had hoped that the day I found love would come but it's been nearly three years since I have had a match. I thought today would be the day that everything would change when my match detector went off. The girl asked me for a cup of coffee. "Hey what's your name," she asked me out of the blue.
"Name's Sophia", I replied. And just like that a smile appeared on her face before rushing out the door. I looked surprised puzzled more than anything. How strange, I thought I could brush it off, but I was wrong. The next day she came asked for the same thing repeatedly for the past few weeks. She would order a cup of coffee then leave after she said goodbye. Until one day I finally got the courage to ask her what her name was. "Wait!", I called frantically. She turned around and smiled. "If you're wondering what my name is then my name is Amelia.", she said in a cheerful voice.
Then it hit me. There was an announcement that the princess would sneak off into the village and to alert the king and queen if you saw her. That was the princess. However, something in me said I shouldn't tell the king and queen about this. So, I made her promise she would visit me every single day. She agreed surprisingly and just like that she was off and, on her way, back to the castle.
Every day the more and more she came the happier I felt when she came. Bit by bit little by little she would tell me more about her palace life and how she felt about being couped up in a castle with nothing to do but read, dance, cook, and sleep. She explained to me how it wasn't a perfect fairytale living in the castle.
It made me wonder what she was going though when she was at the palace. I always thought that they were a picture-perfect family who lived a happy life. That was far from the truth. The only reason her father was chosen is cause he's a man of good looks and knowledge for days on end.
Her mother however wasn't always this controlling instead she used to be nice and caring. Now I don't know the full details except that there was an accident that caused the queen to have to deal with a serious leg injury and almost resulting in death. This made the queen angry more than anything. She feared that the same thing would happen again except this time it would be her daughter, so to protect her daughter she decided that her daughter could never leave the palace at all costs.
According to Amelia she was raised to be perfect. No mistakes were made in her life. If she did, she was met with a punishment. I was petrified at the story. She told me not to worry and that everything was fine, but it wasn't. I never would've thought that the king and queen were so cruel. And as for Amelia, she was made to keep the family life going. She was trained to be married and to rule a kingdom.
Once she turned 18, she was set to be married at sunset. Now standing in the café was a 16-year-old princess designed to be married for granted. She always would beg me to become a princess so that way she wouldn't have to marry a complete stranger. But no matter how much begging she did my answer was always no. As the days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months, I began to wonder if I was catching feelings for her. Soon it was Fall the time when most people start dressing warm and needed a cup of coffee.
The more crowded the café became the more tense the air was. I noticed how not very many people from the palace would come to the café anymore. Once winter began, it was time to test to see if our signature coffee flavor would work like it has the past 16 years. It was a busy afternoon. Working day after day, night after night.
I finally decided to take a break from work after 5 months a day all to myself. But when I began walking home, I could sense I was being followed. After five minutes of walking, I reached my home, but when I opened my door, and a strange figure rushed in. I was stunned. "Who are you?" I called demanding an answer. The voice did a soft chuckle. "I'm kind of sad you don't remember me Sophia", an upset voice said.
"Amelia" I said in a puzzled look. She nodded and took her jacket off. "Can I stay here?" she asked in a soft toned voice. "Sure, why not", I replied in an eager voice. And just like that I now had a roommate only it wasn't a normal kind of roommate instead my roommate was a runaway princess.
I was feeling tired, and I asked if I could go to sleep. She said sure almost like she didn't care what I did. "Why'd you runaway I said in a soft voice. She looked down at the ground almost like a child in trouble. "You don't have to answer it.", I called out.
Afterwards we talked about everything the activities out of the castle and the ones in the castle. I asked her if she wanted to eat dinner, but she declined. "I don't have a second bed, so I'll sleep on the floor, and you sleep on the bed", I said in a calm manor. "No!", "Sleep with me please", she said frantically. I agreed. After we got ready, for bed I noticed she didn't have any clothes so I said she could use mine. She looked so joyful that I couldn't help but smile.
As I got ready to lay down, she laid down right beside me almost touching me. I couldn't help but blush. I kept my thoughts to my head and tried to go to sleep, but no matter how hard I tried a thought that was almost irresistible came into my head. I laid my head near her back and began cuddling her. At first her body felt cold, frozen. But within minutes of me touching her she began to warm up.
I had never felt so comfortable in my life. Her I was wondering if marrying her wasn't such a bad idea after all. I had heard her whisper something under her breath. It was faint but I did manage to hear a few words. "Pull me closer", that's what I heard her say. I felt her hand on my leg. I could feel my face getting warmer. I decided to get closer. By now I could feel her waste on mine it was almost like we were dating. I felt her turn around. Her eyes were a rose pink. The prettiest in the land. And yet she was here with me in my bed.
As her eyes met mine, she smiled a little leaned in and gave me a kiss on the forehead. "Goodnight", she whispered in a soft tone. And just like that she was asleep. As peaceful as can be. I felt my eyelids grow heavy. As they shut a feeling entered my body. I had always thought that I was going to be with a guy as my match, but what if instead it was a girl. Nobody had ever heard of such silly thoughts, so why should I. However, at the same time it felt like my heart was calling for her. What felt like minutes to me ended up being hours. When I awoke, I was met by Ameila? She was clinging on tightly to my waste. Her eyes were shut, and her hair was messy, but she still looked perfect. When she finally woke up, she met me with a good morning and began doing her hair. She was perfect in every way. Who wouldn't want to marry her?
I wasn't expecting her to join me in my morning bath, so when she did, I was caught off guard. I couldn't quite figure out what her plan was. Did she like me or was she trying to lure me? I didn't care, I felt happy, so I wasn't exactly concerned when she grabbed me by my hand and joined me in a bath. Suddenly a splash of water hit my face. I decided to splash Ameila back. We had puddles going everywhere. When both of us finished bathing I wanted to respect her privacy no matter what.
After I got dressed, I turned around thinking she was dressed. I wasn't expecting her not to be dressed so when I turned around, I couldn't tell if I was in heaven or if I was a pervert. All she did was smile giggle and laugh. It seemed as if she wanted me to look at her. When she finally finished getting dressed, I asked her if she wanted breakfast. Surprisingly she said yes.
I decided to make pancakes and coffee. And to my surprise she enjoyed it very much. It was almost like she didn't mind anything I made. As the days grew into weeks and the weeks grew into months it was official that she was my forever roommate, and my best friend. We became more comfortable around each other. I couldn't help myself, but it felt as if I was catching feelings for her. I glanced at her one morning to discover something new. I asked her if she dyed her hair pink, but she said no.
