A proud mom

Calvin easily guided Madelyne in the early stages of the game. He first brought her to pick her class and as he expected, she picked priest as her origin class.

For her first weapon, Madelyne chose the bow. From what the NPCs instructors for the priest has told the players, staffs, wands, or any kind of weapon that is suited for using magic are more expensive compared to normal weapons since they can make it easier to control mana.

But they did say that it was only for the early stage. Later on, even melee and ranged weapons would have some effects that can increase mana control. That's why the price for them will be relatively the same in the late stage of the game.

Anyways, once they were done preparing by buying some potions, arrows and getting her the same leather armor he bought, he brought her outside the village to complete her quest.

Calvin helped Madelyne in killing the slimes. At first, he was worried that if he helped out in killing the slimes or he accidentally dealt the last hit, the system wouldn't consider at as Madelyne's kill. But good thing that it did because they were in a party so that was another thing to take note.

Though by the time where Madelyne only needed to kill 5 more slimes, she insisted to go solo at it.

Just looking at her excited smile made him smile back as he accepted. He knew that she was having fun in the game and that made him happy because from now on he would have someone to play with.

One thing he was shocked during the time he's helping Madelyne in her quest is her ability to learn. He knew that she was smart but to the extent that she can wield the bow a little better in just a few minutes after using it for the first time, it was shocking to say the least.

From almost hitting 1 out of 10 shots to 5 out of 10 he was once again shocked by her talent. Even he tried to use it at some point but only managed to land 3 hits out of 10, though it was partly because he didn't use it much as he still liked going head to head in fighting.

Furthermore, she also uses her body to attack whenever a slime got too close. She was practically a genius. Well the two siblings knew of that even when they were a child but still it amazed him.

The two had a good time grinding the slimes and along the way they had fun talking to each other just sharing and talking about many things.

It was also at this time that Calvin finally knew how good the blessing he received. When he looted the first slime, they received almost twice the coins and materials he looted when he first started.

He was excited and happy about how good the luck stat truly is. Even Madelyne has somehow been affected by his luck stat as she could loot 1.5 times higher than normal.

It greatly surprised him that even luck have this effect. He didn't think it was a coincidence at all and knew it was a hidden effect of the luck stat.

Due to his luck, they even looted an accessory, a type of equipment that is much harder to get than normal equipment. It was a slime earing.

Even though it looked simple and and only gave 1 stat to int, it was enough for Calvin to smile foolishly which made Madelyne look at him strangely.

When Calvin noticed her look, he felt embarrassed and to cover it up, he explained the reason for his excitement. Madelyne nodded as she finally understand and also smiled seeing how excited he is.

Madelyne thought to herself. 'This game might be really fun seeing as how excited he is. I can hardly remember when he got this excited that even I am affected by it. Speaking of which, he has changed isn't he? And in a good way.'

As she thought of Calvin's earlier actions, she couldn't help but smile gently.

It was especially during one moment that made her proud of her son. They were approached by three players seeking to party up with them. The two obviously refused just like what they did to the ones that came up to them earlier since they could see how they look or rather oggle at Madelyne.

But instead of backing down, the three had insisted until they even blatantly flirted with Madelyne. The two got so annoyed and just when she was about to speak up, Calvin stepped up and said annoyed.

"Dude can you fuck off? We don't want to party up with people like you."

When the three men heard what Calvin said, they threw away any hesitations and cursed at him. Calvin also exploded and cursed back even more fiercely and insulted them with any words he could think.

In the end, the three decided to give up since they saw that Calvin and Madelyne had armors on while they have only the basic shirt and pants. They knew that if they got in a fight, they would surely lose so they left while still cursing at Calvin.

Only after they left did Calvin remembered how he cursed so much and that too in front of his mom. He looked at his mom that was looking at him surprised and said embarrassed.

"Sorry about that mom."

Madelyne seeing that just shook her head with a smile and said, "No its ok. You did good there Calvin, thank you."

Calvin smiled feeling shy yet happy at the same time and said, "Uh no problem mom."

"Should we continue where we left off?" she chuckled and Calvin nodded without saying anything more. Then they got back to grinding slimes.

As she remembered this little episode earlier, a lovely smile appeared on Madelyne's face while looking at Calvin's excited face.

At that moment, Calvin felt strange as he felt like he was being watched. He looked around and saw his mom looking at him with a smile which made him confused.

"Uhh mom? Is there something on my face?" Calvin asked uncertainly.

Madelyne continued smiling as she walked closer. Once she was near, she hugged him and said gently, "I'm proud of you Cal."
