Control is Everything(12)

Michelle was face-down on the ground, rubbing the back of her head, she realized she was in a cave of some sort with violet colored crystals on the walls. Glancing down, she noticed that there were numerous socks scattered over the ground.

"Well at least these crystals aren't dark aether crystals from Call of Duty Cold war zombies. We don't need a zombie invasion to happen now." Michelle murmured. However, she then heard a sinister chuckle, to which she instantly reacted by looking around the cave with her spear prepared.

Then she turned her head to the left and noticed a large shadowy figure, revealing to be Grenda, otherwise known as SCP-3887-B, "The Monster Under the Bed."

In shadow form on the wall at least.

[Hello there.]

"3887."

[So you know who I am it seems. But the only one who knows about me is her. The one you met back on the topside.]

"Yeah, I know. You both have attachments to each other."

[And how do you know about that as well?]

"I just know. But 3887, you have to let me out of this cave. My friends are on the topside and I need leave to help them. So would you kindly show me the exit?"

[There is no exit! The only thing that is here is me and you! Your friends cannot save you! You will be trapped here forever in this eternal darkness!] She shrieked in a frightful and terrifying tone.

The reason why Grenda brought Michelle here was in order to obtain the fear that she needs in order to survive. The foundation had promised to provide her with a D-class in order to provide her with the necessary fear, but due to D4C's attack on the site today and their distraction, they were unable to do so. As a result, Grenda was growing increasingly desperate because she was unable to survive without fear. But when she sensed Michelle possessed the necessary level of fear, she forcibly brought her here.

"Look, I really need to head back to the topside."

[You can never leave this place.] Grenda told Michelle, clearly trying to make her afraid.

"If you won't tell me then I'll find my own way out." Michelle respondes, turning around, she was about to leave but immediately halted herself when Grenda mentioned something.

[...You're afraid of losing loved ones before you have a chance to create any memorable moments with them.]

Widening her eyes slightly, Michelle looks back at her.

Having discovered what she was looking for, Grenda grinned menacingly, [Am I right?]

"...I don't know what you're talking about."

[Think about it. Memories are important because they remind you of what you did in the past and make you feel happy about those great moments and things that you did with family and friends. But if your loved ones leave you and never come back, who can you make memories with? By yourself? No! True and happy memories cannot be made alone and you lost making more of those memories after your parents died when you were just six years old right in front of you.]

"Y-You..."

[You what, Michelle?! Isn't that what you're afraid of? Isn't that what you don't want to happen again? Because you felt unhappiness and despair knowing your parents would never come back and that you could never make new memories with them when you started to grow up. Like you graduating from school to college, to getting a job, to having a family of your own, to grow old and then being at peace, but you wanted to make those type of memories along with your parents as well, but you can't, because they are gone, and now you have to make all those memories without them being beside you. All alone.]

"S-S-Shut up!" Michelle shouted as she started tearing up.

[And now you are here. Stuck forever in my domain without any way to escape as your friends get killed at the hands of D4C and lots of other innocent people will die and you wouldn't be able to do anything at all, because you are here with me.] Grenda chuckled deeply, [History is repeating itself Michelle, and there is nothing you can do about your friends fate and lose any good chance at making memories and be alone making your own memories by yourself like all those years ago in the real world. All alone without anyone on your side. That is your fate!]

Then, Michelle experienced a flashback to a time when she was still a human, just six years old in her own world, many years before she was brought into the SCP universe. The flashback showed a highway on a cloudy, rainy night and a car that was upside down and beyond repair. There was also a semi-truck with a huge dent on its front bumper, and the driver of that truck was inside, but he was unconscious and had a bump on his forehead from when his head hit the wheel during impact.

There was a young child with strawberry blonde hair and lilac eyes who was dressed in a knee-length yellow outfit with miniature flower petal-patterned shoes. Her forehead was bruised, and it was slightly bleeding.

This was Michelle Keegan when she was six years old. She was attempting to awaken her parents, but since her parents were sitting in the front seat of the car while young Michelle was in the back before the collision occurred. As a result, her parents suffered more severe injuries when the crash occurred than she did. She was crying and shook them to get them to wake up as she was attempting to, but... she was unaware that they had already left.

A man and a lady in a car pulled up next to them. The man tried to help the young Michelle with her parents as the woman called for help. He felt her parents' pulses but found nothing.

The young Michelle then questioned him, "Are they ok, mister? My mom and dad will wake up, right?" She asked him, hoping that her parents were still okay.

With a sorrowful expression on his face and feeling sympathy for her, he patted her head and murmured, "I'm sorry."

That's all that he said to her until help arrived. Her whole world darkened, her heart broke into a million pieces, and she didn't want to accept it, but it was the truth when they told her that her parents wouldn't be returning. They were gone and wouldn't be seen again.

Then the flashback ended, and a new flashback shows a 12-year-old Michelle at her uncle and aunt's house looking through a photo album of all the fun times she had with her parents when she was a baby to when she was 6-years-old. After her parents passed away, there was no other memory she could make because they were gone, and even her aunt and uncle were always busy, hardly ever spending time with the girl.

Although she always had her cat Lizzie by her side, she still struggled with the loss of having her parents there to watch her grow up and create more memories. Seeing her schoolmates' parents there to create wonderful memories and watch them mature, which only made her sadness worsen. She sobs a little and sits on the bed holding the photo album close to her while mourning her parents still to this day.

"Mom. Dad. I just wish you both would have stayed with me a bit longer and see me grow up to be a great person and make some more great memories together. I just wish... you were back here." The 12-year-old Michelle cried even harder as more tears streamed down her face and sadness filled her heart.

This is what Michelle feared the most. Not creating any more memories with the people she loves passionately and watching them die, knowing they would never return.
