Chapter one Looking back in time

Everything begins with a daughter's search for a birthday present for a mother. The protagonists of the novel are a mother who sacrifices everything for her children, a father who constantly gambles out of fear of society, a son who acts immature even at the age of 16, a daughter who lives for herself to avoid sadness, and a family of both mothers and fathers.

Sreya, the daughter, searches high and low for the perfect gift to give her mother on a particular day(birthday), but she is unsatisfied with the ones she sees and picks out herself. As a result, she decides to make her mother remember all of the happy times she has shared with her in the past. Since Sreya doesn't even know what her mother's favourite cuisine is, she turns to her friends, coworkers, and family to learn more about her mother's interests, goals, and desires.
