The next day I had my meals in my room. Silver told me that I would stay separated from everyone till I had my first bleed. If the snake king wanted to have a strong litter from me I would have to stay healthy till then which meant I had to stay away from him. That made me feel a lot better.
I was allowed to go out for a little while but I was so bored.
I walked to the door and sat down.
"Hey Silver, is that your real name?"
"No."
"Can you tell me your real name?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because I'm not allowed to have a name besides what the king gave me."
"How did you become a slave?"
"You really know how to hit the sore spots don't you."
"Well, I figured we should get to know each other."
"I'm a slave. I don't get to know you."
"Okay but can you still talk to me since I'm not really allowed to leave."
"I am talking to you."
"True. Hum, can you tell me about your tribe then?"
"Okay. I was a part of the ape clan. The apes were the brains and we gorillas were the muscle that made all their ideas work. Surprisingly we work pretty well together. The ape and gorillas have their own hierarchy as well. I was the king of gorillas before a younger male came and cheated me out of my position. Still, I lost and had to be banished as part of the punishment. Sadly, I ran into a group of rogues and a snake prince and was beaten into submission. I had already lost everything, why not my pride." He was supposed to tell me about his people but ended up telling me how he got here." Sorry, I didn't mean to say all of that."
"My village sat on top of a volcano. The great tree was able to keep it from erupting. Our head priest betrayed us and let the rogues in. They lit our great tree on fire, destroying it and causing the volcano to erupt. While everyone was trying to escape I lost track of my family. I was riding on my brother when his mate died as did he. When I made it away from the volcano, I went to search for my family. I climbed up a tree and watched as the rogues humiliated and ripped my father to shreds. A bear rogue stopped me from running to him and knocked me out. I still don't know who survived that, but I get the feeling my closest brother Ryker is still alive. So that's how I got here." Lyria told her story.
"I'm sorry you had to experience that."
"It's fine, but could you tell me more about your ways and lifestyle? I've been stuck in a valley my whole life, so I don't know anything about the world outside of it, except what the elders teach us." Even though it saddened her to tell her story, she was very interested in learning something new. Her eyes lit up in curiosity.
"Hahaha, you're a very odd female, but okay."
And this was the beginning of Silver and Lyria's friendship.
