6 Test Me I

Raven: That's about it, so which course do you want to sign up for?

I explain the details of all the courses and schedules to Clay. Since the ties between his kingdom and our kingdom are very good, him attaining a military position here is acceptable; according to Jaiden anyway. And you right there, yes you, Clay, stop staring at me just because I'm most probably the only female Security Chief you've ever seen. Women don't really get the freedom or have the will to do anything that is supposedly the "men's" work. But as you can see, young Clay here, is easily charmed.

Adam: Well, are there any courses that are short?

Short? He JUST came here and he wants the shortest of all courses? He better be good at his fighting skills. Speaking of which, the examination for the new Security Chief are coming up in... 52 days. If he signs up for them now, he'll have approximately 50 days to practice! He may be the one to free me! But before I get ahead of myself, I need to test him.

Raven: There's an examination for a Security Chief in 52 days; do you want to sign up for it? Your course can start tomorrow, so you'll have a good 50 day course to brush- up.

Adam: That's perfect!!

Clay beams, his smile blinding

Adam: I do! Whe-...

Raven: I need to test your skills to see if you'll live up to the expectations though.

I interrupt him before he gets too excited.

Adam:... So, if I don't meet the requirements, will I not be able to give the examination?

His smile deflates.

Raven: As much as us hate to admit, yes. I wouldn't want to waste my time polishing a chunk of coal.

Adam: But if you give the coal some time, it will shine like a diamond!

Raven: Diamonds don't shine! They reflect! And there IS no time!!

Adam:..!!!

I glare at him and he flitches.

He lowers his head. Oh. My. God. I did not mean to burst all my anger on him. The word 'time' keeps triggering me more and more these days.

Raven: Sorry about that... Do you want to give the test?

Clay hesitates for s moment and then nods.

Raven: Alright then, follow me.

I lead him to the training camp.

Trainees and Staff: Good morning Miss Raven!!

Tch, back with the 'Miss Raven' again? Ever since the news of my 'engagement' with Jaiden (the Prince) was leaked by some unknown worker, all of the staff have been trying to get on my good side in case I become the future queen. But I know too well of their gossips that take place behind my back. The trainees on the other hand, genuinely respect me.

I nod in response to their greatings. I reach the the practice area and remove my half- sleeved jacket and hand it to my assistant, Gavin. Hmm? I keep moving it around in the air but he doesn't hold it. I finally turn around to face him and see him staring at Clay.....
