POV

Millie

"X, what is all of this?" I ask looking up at him as he's looking down at me.

"Why don't you go see for yourself," he says leading me to the beautiful display.

As we get closer, more comes into view. Alongside the shore is a wooden pergola, dangling from the top are vintage Edison bulb lights giving off a beautiful glow. On each post of the pergola, are white orchids cascading over one another from top to bottom. On the inside sits a small fire pit with a fire roaring to life and two wicker chairs across from each other. It is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen and the most thoughtful that anyone has ever done for me. How much work went into this in such a short amount of time?

"X," I say trailing off not knowing what to say.

"C'mon baby, there's more inside," he says gently pulling my hand to see what more this could possibly entail.

We walk the rest of the distance and make it to the pergola. There's so much to see inside here. There is a black zip-up hoodie placed hanging on the back of the wicker chair and it makes me chuckle.

Delicately placed all over the sand on the inside, are things written on cocktail napkins that I can't quite read so I start picking them up one by one and reading them in my head.

I love you, I love your heart, I love your soul, I love your eyes, I love our connection, I love your beauty, I love our talks, I love your touch, I love your smile.

Napkin after napkin he has written reasons why he loves me. I don't even know what to think right now, this is unbelievable.

There is a small glass table off to the side with a bottle of wine and two glasses. An envelope lays on the top of the glass, I pick it up, "20 answers?" I ask him in confusion.

He chuckles with a wide handsome smile and I think I may fall to my knees at his appearance alone, "20 questions, but instead, it's just 20 answers, 20 things about me that I only want you to know." He says putting his hands in his pockets.

I flip over the envelope to open it but he stops me, "maybe just open it when you're alone, there's some embarrassing things in there," he says rocking back and forth on his heels.

"Okay," I say with a smile while nodding my head and setting it back down in its original location.

All of this, I look around some more, all of this is a representations of us.

"Some wine?" He asks breaking me of my thoughts.

"Um..yeah, thank you." I say quietly.

He walks over squeezing past me while placing his hand on my waist to keep me sturdy as he makes his way to the table next to me.

He's pouring wine into both glasses as I stand there continuing my thoughts. I came here tonight to break things off with him completely and somehow it made a one-eighty turn as it usually does when it comes to us.

He hands me a wine glass and our hands touch causing my fingers to feel electrified.

We sit across from one another watching the fire crackle from time to time, he reaches out from under his chair, pulling out graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate.

"S'mores?" I ask way too excitedly for my age.

He laughs, "fuck yeah baby."

He hands me the ingredients and we start to roast our marshmallows.

"Hey X?" I ask looking at him as he has his head down watching his marshmallow overcook.

He looks up, the glow of the fire is making his eyes greener and his nose ring shine, "yeah baby?" He asks.

"Um, thank you. Thank you for all of this." I say guiding my hand out to the surroundings of the pergola.

"Anything for you," he says staring into my eyes.

"Um, X? Your marshmallow is on fire.." I say pointing to the poor charred marshmallow succumbing to the flames.

"Oh shit!" He says waving it around causing the ball of fire to intensify and it oh so sadly drops into the fire.

I start laughing at the chaos that occurred just by trying to roast a marshmallow and he starts laughing too.

"Who taught you how to roast a marshmallow?" I ask through laughter.

"No one, this was my first time," he says honestly and it makes me sad that in his thirty-one years of life, he's never made a s'more.

"Here, have mine, and I'll make another, you and marshmallows don't mix," I say shaking my head and handing him over my marshmallow.

"Thanks, baby," he says taking it from me.

He assembles his s'more and takes a bite, "damn, this shit is good!" He says with a full mouth.

I laugh, "I know, why do you think I got so excited when you pulled them out?" I ask pointing to the s'more he's eating.

"Come here baby, have a bite since yours isn't done yet." He says extending the s'more to me.

I stand up and move over to the side taking a step towards him instead of leaning over the fire as he extends it straight in front of the fire somehow expecting me to take a bite through the flames.

I take a bite as he holds it out, he closely watches my mouth as if I'm doing something incredibly sexy and I swallow.

"You have a little something.." he says keeping eye contact with me as I look down at him. He takes his thumb to my bottom lip wiping away excess marshmallows. I take his thumb into my mouth sucking it away and his eyes become full of lust watching the show.

"Fuck.." he whispers.

With that, no initiation on either end, we both lean in for a kiss, the sweetness on our tongues colliding with one another.

Without breaking the kiss, X tosses the s'more into the fire. I break the kiss to look at the s'more engulfed in flames.

"That was a perfectly good s'more," I say disappointed.

"And these are perfectly good lips that require my full attention," he says while taking his hand behind my ear pulling my face to his direction, and connecting our lips again, deepening our kiss after every passing second as though it'll never be enough for us.
