Binged 800 chapters + This is a hidden gem. Probably my favorite sect-building story of all time now. Highly recommended. The sect leader genre is niche, so there aren't many out there. This goes deep into sect-development which means it dives into politics, economics, social dynamics, sect wars etc. If you want something actually good especially of this niche, this one does quite well. While it isn't a masterpiece, it is a solid 8/10 at least. It really hit the craving of sect stories, taking itself seriously but not being too difficult or dark to read. The MC is very likable and is an actual character, rather than a self-insert or the typical xianxia mc with a cheat. He can actually forgive or rather look past some enemies for the greater interest for his sect and is not the hot-blooded type. In fact, his main combat ability is using arrays making it a fresh change. I also love that one of the main heroines (best girl) is stronger than him for hundreds of chapters. Even now, she is probably stronger, at least she is still above him in cultivation realm. This isn't a novel where the MC quickly rises to be OP and flattens everything before meeting with 10+ new realms, making him trash again to repeat the repetitive climb. The fact that MC doesn't really have a cheat besides being a transmigrator and the fact that cultivation levels actually mean something is enough indication to show that the author isn't writing something brainless. It takes years for people in this world to climb the cultivation realms, and even the most talented ones still may require even hundreds of years at a high level to break through a realm. While it does have timeskips, it executes it adequately. Characters are never forgotten in this novel. I've read some of my favorite characters die, moving me and relationships in the novel are ever changing. I'm also very pleasantly surprised that even in later chapters the protagonist is still growing as a person despite being a miracle-maker and a perfectionist. The novel also has huge calamity-like plot lurking in the background involving the immortal realm which the Mc occasionally may be dragged in learning secrets he shouldn't know. It is very surprising that even with 800 chapters + demonic cultivatiors are hardly mentioned at all and there is no typical demonic vs righteous war. --- Overall this is a quick review. If you want a genuinely good sect-building story that starts from the bottom and slowly rising to awe the world (with basically no cheats), and has actual thought behind it, including a strategic, heroic, likable, sentimental, gentleman-like MC, with the occasional ruthlessness, then this is one I highly recommend. According to the author, his book isn't popular, but very loyal. Which I find understandable. Readers who stick with it for at least a hundred chapters of it would be rewarded.
