Chapter 3 – The Lich Bomb?

Pov- Ivy  

I am standing on top of a hill right outside a nearby city. I stare off into the distance as I watch people run crazy in said nearby city. The reason for this is the bomb flying towards the city. The city is in utter disarray with some people running out of the city. Others are on their hands and knees praying to God to save them. The rest are doing whatever illegal acts they could not do before because they all believed it did not matter. 

I watched this all happen from the hill. I watched as the bomb struck the city and for a second everything was quiet. No birds chirping or trees rustling, just silence. The bomb exploded. It wiped out the city in a cloud of green. The city was gone, and I could see the explosion coming towards me. As the explosion came towards me, I swear I could hear evil laughter coming from it as the explosion washes over me.

Pov- Ivy's mom 

It is the middle of the night, and I hear someone enter my room. I turn over and see Ivy sheepishly look at me through the door. I sit up a bit and turn on the lights and beckon her over. She then runs to me and hugs me tightly. We both sit there for a while till I ask the question that's on my mind. "What's the matter sweetie". I asked her gently. 

She sits there hugging me for a little while longer until she responds with, "I had a horrible nightmare mom. There was a city, and everyone was panicking until a bomb struck and blew everyone up." 

I hug her even tighter. "It's okay Ivy, it was just a dream. How about you stay with me tonight? Does that sound good?" 

At that she nodded her head and as I was turning off the lights, I noticed a band aid on her arm that I did not remember being there. Seeing it made me very sad, not only because she got hurt but because she always tells me when she is hurt, and I hate that I can't remember when that was. I feel like my memory is getting worse and worse. With that thought, I fell asleep with Ivy in my arms.

Pov- Ivy 

I woke up the next morning still feeling pretty startled by my nightmare the night before. I sat up and looked around my mother's bed that I slept in after calming down. Today is Saturday so I don't need to worry about school. I slowly got out of bed. I looked at the clock and it seems I ended up sleeping till noon today. 

I went to the kitchen to look for mom. On the table in the kitchen a sandwich and note can be found. The note stated, 

 'Hey dear, I had to go get some groceries for dinner later tonight. I should be back around 2. I want your homework done by the time I am back. 

Ps. I left you a sandwich. 

 Love Mom' 

I grabbed the sandwich and headed to my room to do my homework. It was pretty easy, so I got it done in 20 mins and the sandwich was alright too. After finishing my thoughts kept drifting back to the scary dream from last night. I kept thinking about how real it felt. The more I thought about it the scarier it got. I eventually got sick of thinking about it, so I had to come up with a way to distract myself. 'What better way to distract myself than with a mystery' I said to myself. So, with that I decided to look for the box that ended up hurting me yesterday.

Still Pov- Ivy 

I finally found the box yesterday after a bit of searching. I carefully pick up the box, hoping to avoid any of the new sharp edges that have formed from me breaking it. I carefully reached inside the box and slowly pulled out what's inside. When it finally revealed itself to me, I was very disappointed. 

Inside the box was just an old piece of paper. Nothing written on either side. To say I was mad would be an understatement statement. "Who would hide a blank piece of paper!" I yelled out. Just as I was about to through it away, something magical happened. 

Words started to appear on one side of the paper. The words seemed to be written in some black ink from long ago. The paper read out, 

'To those who read this message. It means that you have found my map to my most valuable possession. I do not know how long it will take for someone to find my map, so I enchanted it to update to the current geographic features of the first person who activates it. It will activate as soon as you finish reading this.

Just like the message said. As soon as I finished reading the message, the message disappeared and in its place was a map of the forest with an x at one spot which I am assuming is where the treasure lies. 

I was stunned by this discovery. Not only have I found a magic map, but a map that leads to the most prized possession of some sort of wizard. To say I was excited would be an understatement. 'I wonder if the wizard left a cool wizard artifact. Could I become a wizard with whatever it is?' I thought to myself. 

I looked back at the map and my happiness instantly dropped. The reason was not because I could not figure out the map. The issue was that it is in a cave that is also the home of a bear cub. The only reason I know this is because I have run into that cub before and barely escaped. 

Not willing to give up so easily I decided to go back home and come up with a plan. On my way back I decided not to tell mom about it because if she knew about it, she would forbid me from going for it. While I don't like hiding things from her, having the ability to become a wizard would be super cool so I decided with my great wisdom that it would be worth it. With that decision I spent the rest of the walk home and the rest of the day in general planning what I wanted to do.
