Well... how do I even start?
First of all, I'm dead. Yeah, that's right—dead. The problem is, I don't know how it happened. I've been trying to figure it out since I got here, but it's hard to focus when all I can see is darkness. There's nothing. No light, no sensation. I can't feel anything. Where the hell am I? And, no, it's not hell. Even though I always figured that's where I'd end up, this place doesn't feel like anything. Just an empty void.
Fuck...
Okay, okay, let's calm the fuck down. I need to think this through, retrace my steps or something. Hmm... I was just a regular person, living a pretty mundane life on Earth. I mean, looking back now, I realize my life was more than boring— No, fuck that, my life literally feels like shit. No loved ones, No friends, no money, my family wanted nothing to do with me.
I honestly don't know how I managed to keep going. I felt worthless, completely worthless. But there was one thing that kept me from losing it entirely—my love for Japanese culture. Manga, anime, light novels, games, even the music. There was something about the way those stories were told, the emotions they carried... It helped me hang on when everything else felt pointless.
I envied the protagonists in those stories. They always found a way through, no matter how bad things got. Even when they faced impossible odds, they had this ridiculous luck that always pulled them through—plot armor, right? The kind of bullshit that's totally unfair but still makes you root for them. Yeah, it's stupid, but I respected them for all the shit they went through. Especially guys like Might Guy. He wasn't even a protagonist, but man, did he inspire me. What a guy...
Anyway, by the time I hit my last year of university, I barely had time for my hobbies. Everything got so busy—school, work... I lost track of time. My life became a mess. I remember one night after a particularly exhausting shift at my part-time job, I thought, "Screw it, I'll catch up on One Piece before bed." I'd seen spoilers floating around online—people talking about Bonney, Kuma, Vegapunk, and the Gorosei. I hadn't read it since the Wano arc ended, so I figured it'd be a good way to relax.
But when I got home, my place was trashed. I mean, I knew it was messy when I left, but this was different. Drawers were yanked out, stuff was everywhere, and then I saw him. Some guy in black, wearing a freaky clown mask, carrying my laptop. My heart sank. I knew I was screwed. And just as I was about to turn around, I heard footsteps behind me. Then, a sound.
Bang!
And there's nothing...
I guess it's a headshot, good for them. But fucked for me because here...? Am I. All I can see or sense since I died now is absolutely NOTHING. Only dark, heavy, but also a floating-like feel that I can only sense. If I think too much about it, I'll probably lose my mind. There's no point in trying to figure out why I'm here and not in hell or whatever. That'll only drive me crazier.
I could try to stay calm, maybe meditate like some kind of Buddha, but it's hard to keep cool when there's no sound, no feeling, nothing at all. So, I guess I'll just keep talking to myself, running through random shit to stay sane. It's not like I have many options here. Or maybe I should just keep swimming like Dory said...?

I blink into the void, not that it does me any good. There's nothing here to see—no light, no shape, no hint that anything even exists outside my mind. How long has it been? It feels like an eternity, but in a place like this, is there even time? I doubt it. There's nothing to measure, no sun, no moon, no ticking clock. Just me... floating in this endless nothingness.
I laugh softly to myself, but the sound dies in the emptiness, swallowed by the dark. My mind—it's... slipping. I can feel it. Half of me is still here, holding on, but the other half? Gone. Lost to the insanity of this place. I can't help it. When there's nothing to focus on, your thoughts go wild. I try to distract myself, going over the shambles of my life, or diving into random ideas.
What if Aizen got reincarnated into the world of Jujutsu Kaisen without his Hogyoku? Now that would be something. I can almost see it, the sheer chaos that would follow. It's funny—thinking about that kind of destruction makes me feel... happy? Maybe it's the madness talking.
I keep going, letting my imagination run. What if Gojo's body never got chopped up and Kenjaku possessed it? That'd be a hell of a twist. Or, What if Ai Hoshino never got killed? What if her ex just... disappeared? No consequences, no regrets. Just chaos, pure and simple.
A grin tugs at my lips, and I realize I'm talking to myself now, narrating these wild scenarios like they're real. It's weird, but it's the only thing keeping me from completely losing it. There's something comforting in imagining worlds where the rules are broken, where things go off the rails, where people like me don't feel so powerless.
Haha
Hahaha
Hahahahaha
Hahahahahahahaha
( ??? P.O.V )
Huh...
If it weren't for them forcing me into this situation, I'd never have taken a detour through this godforsaken place. Nothingness... Absolutely nothing, and that's exactly why I hate coming here. I couldn't even sense shit. Luckily, I've got this compass that lazy woman lent me. Even though I'm strong enough to handle most things, this place—this realm—could trap me for eternity. And even I could die here.
Seriously, what is this place? There's no history to it, just random stories that don't make any sense. Maybe that's why they call it 'Nothingness.' Fuck my job; why am I still working at my old age. Sigh, let's just keep going.
Hmm....
.....
"Hahahaha..."
..... Is there someone laughing in here?
"Hahahahahahaha..."
Dear me, there really is someone here.
Curiosity gets the best of me. I've got to check this out. How could anyone survive in a place like this?
Meanwhile, somewhere deeper in the void…
"Hahahahaha! So many scenarios, so many possibilities," said the... thing? An orb? A soul?
"Hahahahaha, and that anime called 'School Days.' The female character should torture him more. Damn that cursed thing called Makoto Itou," The soul was spouting nonsense, laughing wildly as I got closer. It didn't even notice me watching.
Huh, this soul is interesting.
"Hahaha... haahaa... damn it, I got carried away again." It was panting now, as if the laugh had taken all its breath. "I need to calm down, just think about a cute little sister like Kanna-chan or Ilya-chan... or a big 'ara ara' onee-san like Robin-swan or Akeno... Hmm, their moms are fine too. Hahaha."
What in the world is this soul babbling about? Has it lost its mind? Was its brain damaged in some way?
As I keep observing, I notice something strange—something terribly wrong with it. This soul... it doesn't have fate. No threads of destiny tied to it at all. How is that even possible? Every soul, no matter how weak or strong, carries a thread of fate. But this one… it's completely untethered.
Wait… unless…
So that's it. What a miracle. This soul should've gone to the afterlife when it died, but instead, here it is, lost in the most unpredictable and cursed place in existence. Every soul is supposed to have a destination, a fate that pulls them to their rightful end. But this one? It has nothing.
Anyway, why isn't that bitch doing anything about this? Isn't this her job? Hmm... I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing for the soul, or for the omniverse. But a phenomenon this rare? Maybe, just maybe, I could give him a chance. A chance for him... and for our realm. Even if it's a gamble.
After all, managing dead souls is part of my job. Well, let's pull him out of his twisted little fantasies first.
"Child."
( MC P.O.V )
"Child."
Did I just hear someone? Or is this another hallucination? Weird...
"Ahem, Child."
I hear it again, this time coming from behind me. Slowly, I turn around, and what I see nearly knocks me off balance. After so long in this void, there's finally... something. Or someone.
"Wow..." I blink in disbelief, trying to grasp what I'm seeing. "Are you real, or is this just my brain trying to push me further into insanity?"
I said to an old man who looks like a mix of Odin and Jesus but with a sprinkle of Gandalf vibes thrown in for good measure. I hope he isn't a part of the "for greater good" gangs. Wait, what is that glowing behind him... Is it a special effect!?
"Child," he repeats, his voice steady, "you shouldn't be here. It's dangerous. The fact that you've survived this long is nothing short of a miracle. I happened to pass through and noticed you."
His tone is calm, like this is a completely normal situation. Me? I'm still trying to process the fact that someone—or something—is standing here, in this cursed place, talking to me.
"I mean," I begin, scratching my head, well at least that's what I imagine. "I don't even know how I got here. It wasn't like I had a choice in the matter." I look him over, still trying to make sense of it. "By the way, who are you, old man?"
"I am just a powerful being called the Ascendant, or in simpler terms that most lesser beings use, I am called God. Anyway, you should not have been here. Let me help you out, it's also a part of my job after all." said the so-called God.
A god? Sure, why not? After all, I've been in this void for who knows how long. Why not throw a god into the mix?
"Right... a god." I cross my arms, still skeptical. "So, are you gonna send me to hell or something? Seems fitting, considering where I ended up."
He stares at me, an odd expression creeping onto his face, like I've said something incredibly amusing. "Why would I send you to hell?" he asks, as if it's the most absurd idea. "I've been watching you for a while now. You've been muttering nonsense about 'scenarios this' and 'possibilities that,' laughing like a madman." He chuckles, amused. "You have quite the rich imagination, I must say, haha."
I stare at him blankly as he laughs at what he probably considers my "chuuni" moment. Great. Even gods get a kick out of my embarrassing inner ramblings. Why didn't he announce himself earlier? He must've been watching me all this time. Damn, him.
"Alright, fine," I sigh. "If you're not sending me to hell, what happens now? Don't tell me this is one of those reincarnation deals, like in anime." I pause, scoffing a little at the thought. "I don't think I deserve that kind of thing."
He tilts his head, a knowing smile on his face. "And why not? For a soul like yours, stranded far from the afterlife and surviving in a place like this, it's quite the achievement. In fact, going back to the afterlife is impossible for you now."
He leans closer, as if ready to share a secret. "So, I'll give you a reward. How about three chances to pull a gacha? Each gacha represents the world you'll reincarnate into, the skills you'll acquire, and the item you'll receive. And as a final gift, I'll grant you one wish. But nothing outrageous, mind you." He chuckles again, clearly enjoying himself. "How's that? Generous, wouldn't you say?"
I stare at him, utterly speechless. Is this guy for real? Who in their right mind hands out rewards like this without expecting anything in return? Sounds SUS. And why gacha of all things? Why!?
"Generous? Yeah, sure..." I rub my temples, still trying to process the absurdity of it all. "But why so many benefits? Not that I'm complaining, but it's almost too good to be true." I pause, swallowing my skepticism. "But fine, I'll accept it. It's not like I have any other options here." But frankly, I also kind of excited about it.
His eyes light up. "Ah, but remember, gacha is a terrible game of luck. Even with three pulls, you might not get what you desire." He smirks. "That's what the wish is for—compensation, in case your luck is as bad as you think."
With a snap of his fingers, a giant roulette wheel appears between us. The wheel is filled with names—DxD, Naruto, Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, Evangelion, and even slice-of-life worlds like Oregairu and Gotoubun no Hanayome. But then I spot something that makes my stomach drop—DC, Marvel, and Fate. And they're marked, taking up larger portions of the wheel.
"Oi, old man," I ask, my voice wavering, "why do Marvel and the others have a mark and take up more space than the rest?"
He doesn't even blink as he answers. "Ah, that's because Marvel and DC are considered multiverses. If you land on one of them, you'll be sent to one of their universes at random." Fuck. I've never been good at playing gacha; That's why I've always been an F2P player!
I gape at him, my anxiety stonking. "So, if I get Marvel and get lucky, maybe I will go to the MCU, and if my roll sucks, I will go to Earth-616 or worse, like the one with only Thanos who is alive as an overlord in the universe?" At this point, I think it's better to stay here, but I can't bargain with him.
"Yes, and please, spin it when you're ready," the old man said with a deadpan expression.
I stared at him, speechless, before turning my attention back to the damned roulette. This entire situation was surreal, yet here I was, about to gamble with my fate. "Sigh, fine. Guess I'll burn through all my luck now. Let's fucking go!" I grabbed the handle and gave it a hard spin. The wheel clattered to life, spinning wildly. If I was lucky, I'd land in a mid-level world, something manageable.
"Hehehe, don't be so nervous, child," the old man chuckled, his eyes twinkling. "It's your second chance at life. Even if this gacha doesn't turn out well, you might get lucky with the others."
Easy for him to say. His life wasn't on the line. Still, I couldn't deny the logic. There were more gachas to come, so maybe the skills or items would save me. I just hoped I didn't land in some nightmare like Warhammer 40k. My mind raced, thinking of possible worlds—Danmachi, Demon Slayer, fuck even Solo Leveling is much better. Those would be decent for training, right?
The roulette wheel slowed down, ticking past names like Warhammer, Oregairu, and Code Geass. The old man's eyes sparkled with excitement, but I couldn't take it anymore. Closing my eyes, I waited for him to make the announcement. After what felt like an eternity, his voice rang out again.
"And it's stopped. Hehehe, not bad, child. I'd say your luck pulled through this time. There's still a bit of mystery to the world you've landed in, but you managed to get something solid."
I slowly opened my eyes, feeling a mix of dread and anticipation. "Well?" I asked, trying to stay calm.
With a grin, he said, "It's One Piece!"
My heart skipped a beat. One Piece. Thank goodness. Even though I'd only read up to the end of the Wano arc, I'd kept up with spoilers. At least I was familiar with the world. "Okay, not bad. I can work with that. But..." I hesitated, realizing an important detail. "What time period am I reincarnating into?"
The old man's grin widened. "Random." said the old bastard. I clenched my fists, suppressing the urge to punch him.
"Random?" Seriously? This guy was playing with me. "Alright, fine. Can I spin the next one? Let's just get this over with."
Without missing a beat, the next roulette wheel materialized, replacing the previous one. "This spin determines your skills," the old man explained. "The skills are random, but they come in different rarities—white, blue, red, purple, gold, and black. Black is special, even I don't know what it is." He gave a casual shrug. "Go ahead, spin it."
By this point, I'd stopped asking questions. Feeling numb, I gave the roulette another hard spin and watched as it whirred to life. It spun for what felt like hours, then gradually slowed before landing on a bright red light. There was a small explosion, and I flinched.
"Relax," the old man chuckled. "It's normal. Look—your skill has manifested." A shimmering light materialized, forming into an ethereal eye. "It's called Kamigami no Gigan, or the All-Seeing Eyes of God. A solid red skill, child. You've burned through some serious luck today."
I blinked at the skill in awe. I'd heard about it before on the internet, though I hadn't seen the anime that featured it. Still, it sounded insanely useful. I couldn't wait to test it out. "Alright then," I said, feeling a bit more confident. "Let's move on to the last one."
Another roulette appeared, this time for items. The old man repeated the same instructions, and without hesitation, I spun the wheel again. As it clattered away, my mind wandered. Reincarnating in One Piece could be manageable, depending on the time period. The eye skill seemed quite good, so I was already off to a good start. But the item? I had no idea what to expect. I just hoped for something decent.
Finally, the roulette stops spinning; it stops at the black light and explodes. Again.
"Hehehe, you got the black one, child. Even I don't know what it is. Let see... Oh, it's a tiny rock? Gem? Eh, whatever. I tried to make this thing work back then, but nothing happened. Like I did everything I can, but there's still NOTHING happening to this thing. Damn it, just take it, child; it's a gift from me," he said while complaining to me about this gem.
That's why you never play gacha, tsk. And he's even giving me that small gem with a smile on his face. Anyway, I'm still gonna take it; maybe throw it at the enemy for distraction? Too bad it's not a brick.
"Now, it's time for your wish," the old man said, snapping me out of my thoughts. His tone grew more serious. "So, what is your wish, child?"
I already had my answer. I'd thought it over ever since he mentioned the wish. "I want adaptability. Something like Mahoraga from Jujutsu Kaisen—integrated into my soul, body, and mind." I paused, feeling nervous about how unreasonable the request might sound. "How about that, old man?"
The old man went silent for a moment, clearly deep in thought. His brows furrowed, and I could tell he was contemplating the weight of my wish. Adaptability was a broken skill in any world. Maybe I'd overstepped.
"So... you want adaptability at the core of your being?" He finally spoke, his voice thoughtful. "Well, I can grant that. But I'll need to change your race to something higher—a high human, if you will. It won't work otherwise." He smiled kindly, surprising me with his generosity. "Consider it compensation for that black gem. How does that sound?"
I was taken aback. "Seriously?" It felt too good to be true. Either this old man was incredibly kind, or he had some hidden agenda. Whatever the case, I wasn't in a position to question it. "Thank you, old man," I said earnestly. "But... can I know your name?"
He smiled, his expression softening. "Just call me Old Xen; I will send you away now, and remember, you will be sent in a random place and time. The thing you wish for and got from the gacha will be done and integrated into you the moment you arrive. Hehehe, goodbye, Child." The oldman said his goodbye while waving his hand.
Before I could respond, I felt a strange force pulling at me. My consciousness began to fade, and I knew this was my exit. As I slipped away from this surreal encounter, I couldn't help but feel conflicted. Damn old man, even though he's a little bit of a prick, and I don't know his intention, he's undoubtedly helping me out of here.
It feels complicated, but I don't do well with complicated things, so let's forget it for now. Let just live a good life and see what will happen latter.
Well, let's fucking go!
