Planning Part 3

"So if we want to stretch what we have, I think we got about two weeks' worth of food," Rebecca stated as she looked at the stockpile she had in front of her. She had neatly split it apart so that there were two piles for both people. "Each pile is for each of us and split up to one meal a day but…. This is only if we drink two bottles of water a day as well. This includes filling up any bottles that are empty with the jugs of water we have."

"I will let you be in charge of food distribution. To be honest, As long as I got a snack a day, I should be good, so take more if you need." As a gamer, Leo was already used to not eating much to begin with.

"No. I will not be doing that. I did not decide to team up with you to take advantage of you. We will share the food equally." Rebecca already felt like she was taking advantage of Leo. She would not have teamed up with him if he had not given her some zombie gummies and saved her life. While yes, him having zombie gummies was a big reason for her to stick to him. She also wished to help him out as much as she can. She would not let him starve. She could tell Leo was a decent guy, and she did not wish to take advantage of that fact.

"Alright, I will eat my portion then. Just make sure you are getting your fill as well." Leo replied as he looked at the map in front of him. Rebecca already pointed out a place that might serve them well. "Are you sure this place is decent?"

"Yes, I was there once before. At that time, it was a dance studio. It has two entrances and a small window. Both entrances were metal doors, and the rear one had a large latch to keep it locked. The front one had a normal lock. But this was two years ago. I haven't been to dance since I was sixteen." Rebecca's mood was a little gloomy. Besides studying to make a better life for herself, she had always enjoyed dancing. It was nothing too mainstream, just ballet, but she loved to move her body when she could.

"We will take a look. Let's get things settled here first, and then we will take a look at this place. From this map, without a car, we can get there in about an hour by foot." The distance was a little far, but if it turned out to be a decent shelter, then it was worth the time and effort it would take to get there. They just had to be careful, and he might even be able to gain a few levels as well.

"Yes, but no bike this time." Rebecca did not want to draw any attention to themselves.

"I know. I will kill all zombies we come across, though, to give us some breathing room. We need to make a mental note of which area has what. Places that we can scope out for resources." Leo wanted to make sure he kept these things in mind so that when they went out, they would have a better idea of where to hit or not.

"I will keep my eye out. You just watch for zombies. I wish I didn't drop my bat before…." Rebecca regretted losing her baseball bat. She had tried to be quiet when she was heading to the store but ended up stepping on a zombie, which caused her to accidentally cry out. This made another zombie jump at her, which she barely escaped, but it still scratched her with its nails.

She had smashed the zombie in the head with her bat, killing it, but it had already scratched her. She ended up dropping her bat and running as fast as she could to the store. Her only thought at the time was to quickly clean out her wound. If not for Leo at that time…. Rebecca snuck a peak at Leo, who was staring at the map, and wondered just what kind of person he truly was.

"Leo… you said you would explain things to me when we got back…." Rebecca was very curious about this whole thing.

"Oh, right. Since we will be working together, I will explain things. First off, I am not talking to myself. You can not see her, but there is someone else in this room with us. Although she is not a living being per se in our sense of the word. She is the system that I have acquired." Seeing Rebecca's face starting to change, he quickly waved his hands. "Wait, before you start saying I am crazy, hear me out."

Rebecca only had one thought at this time: 'It was already too late for that!'  Pushing her lips, she said: "Continue."

"It's like this." Leo pulled a zombie gummy out from in front of him. "This is a zombie gummy. It helps lower the infection rate. The only reason I am able to get these things is because I have the system. It is what allows these to drop from the zombies. Besides these drop items, I am able to learn things by doing certain activities. It does not make me an utter genius, but the more experience I get in a certain field, the higher the level it will be until I master it. Even a single level up will add, so far, .01% to my physical attributes.

"I know this all sounds crazy, but I promise that this is all the truth. I mean, I am pulling these things out of the mid-air. This should be proof enough that I am somewhat not lying, right?" Leo was very worried about being seen as a crazy man.

"It is true you have been pulling stuff out of thin air, so for now, I will give you the benefit of the doubt. But let me ask you…. Why only you?"
