The wind whistled past the luscious green grass. In the distance was a large sturdy wall which was 2 feet thick. From a bird's eye view, this part of the wall was only a small chunk of the large city wall.
There was a large city on this flat grassland. The city was large enough to house around 800,000 residents. This city in the middle of seemingly nowhere was Maple Leaf City.
In Maple Leaf City, there were 3 main families which controlled the city. Namely: Mo Family, Shan Family and Nie Family. Mo Family was the most powerful of the 3 families, hence the Mo Family Patriarch, Mo Jian was the City Lord of Maple Leaf City.
In the Shan Family, a little rundown hut was built in a remote corner of the Shan Family Territory. Inside the hut were 2 people, an old man and a younger teenager. The old man had a sallow complexion as he lay on the almost broken bed.
Next to the bed was a young teenager who appeared to be around 15 years of age. He had black hair, but if someone looked closely, they would be able to see faint tints of red scattered about. The youth had azure-coloured eyes which did not align with the colour of his hair, but since he was handsome, it only added to his strange presence.
This strangely handsome teenager was Tang Yin. Currently, he was drowning in worry for his father's health as he held onto the old man's hand.
BOOM
A loud noise resounded in Tang Yin's ears. He turned around to look at the source of the noise only to find that his hut door, which was hanging on by a thread, was kicked in by a teenager of similar age as himself and behind the teenager were 3 other people who looked like his followers.
All 4 of these uninvited guests had smug and disdainful looks on their faces and they did not even try to hide their act of looking down on Tang Yin. Clearly, Tang Yin was akin to an ant in their 'superior' eyes.
As soon as Tang Yin saw these 4 people, a cold expression appeared on his face. He recognized them or to be more specific, he recognized the one at the front who was also, the same person who had kicked in his door.
He was a brawny-looking teenager who looked ordinary in every aspect except for his large build. He was Shan Yu. A descendant of the Shan Family. His status was not high in the Shan Family because he was not from the main branch, but it was high enough to do anything he wanted with little to no consequence.
"Tang Yin, how dare you steal my money and hit one of my followers." Shan Yu barked. Tang Yin's expression only got colder. Every time Shan Yu came, he would make up a random excuse just so he could beat him up and vent his frustrations onto him. Over the past year, he had become Shan Yu's punching bag.
Tang Yin slowly let go of his father's cold hand and stood up without saying a word.
"Shan Xiao, Shan Lie, go bring that bastard here, I'll have to teach him a good lesson this time." Shan Yu demanded with a sinister smile on his lips.
2 of Shan Yu's followers walked past Shan Yu and glared at Tang Yin with a ruthless gaze.
An hour passed, Shan Yu and his 3 followers walked out of Tang Yin's rundown hut with a tired but proud look as if what they did brought them pride.
Inside the hut, Tang Yin slowly crawled up. His body was riddled with wounds, he had many bruises that could be seen through his worn-out and torn shirt. He was also bleeding; however, he was used to this.
Whenever Shan Yu came, he would beat up Tang Yin whilst his 2 followers kept him in a lock which prevented him from resisting. The other follower would also deliver a beating on Shan Yu's orders. The amount of beatings Tang Yin received would depend on Shan Yu's mood.
As Tang Yin eventually got up, he stared at his father and his cold gaze disappeared, replaced by warmth. His mother died when he was born, his father was the only family member he had left as he was an only child. Now his only family member and only source of warmth was about to leave him too.
His father had been sick for a whole month. The Shan Family had decided to kick this useless, sick servant out of the family since they saw no hope of recovery. Although Tang Yin was livid, he was powerless.
Along with a beating, Shan Yu was here to give a notice to Tang Yin and his unconscious father. They were told that they were being evicted on the orders of the Shan Family. They had a day to leave the territory of the Shan Family, or they would be killed.
Tang Yin carefully lifted his father up and wrapped him up in a worn-out blanket which had many holes in it. After making sure his father was wrapped up, Tang Yin carried the sick old man on his back and left. He was now homeless and had to take care of his sick father while finding a way to provide for both of them.
