My Fault

After Alicia helped him with his wounds, Airon checked the things in the backpack he had taken after leaving the accident. Among the most important things, there were weapons and some military food that was enough for this day.

But Airon's thoughts were still stunned by the death of Billy and Carlos, although many people died, those two were the closest to him. Billy was a former military man who had followed him since he joined the CDC, he had always wondered if the things he did were the right ones and Billy was one of the first to accept his orders.

Carlos on the other hand, had been rescued in Atlanta and was a brave young man who did not hesitate to help the good people around him even if his fear of walkers was great. Airon always told them about the beautiful world they would build together, but now they are dead.

Even if Airon knows that the world is that cruel, these events happened so fast that it is hard for him to assimilate. If it weren't for their arrogant decisions, he knew that the two of them would be alive right now.

Airon looked at the silent light, emitted by the oil lamp and couldn't help but think of Daryl who, if he remembered correctly, Carlos was a young man very attached to him. According to the events of a while ago, Morgan should be nearby if he was well.

To tell the truth, Airon wasn't too worried about Morgan's safety considering how amazing he can be. Now he had one goal, to get back to his family.

These people who attacked him because of Alicia's words call themselves Vultures, a group of thieves who harass communities and small groups to take all their things without the intention of killing.

But that was not something Airon had seen and when he asked Alicia who Teddy was, she had never heard that name since they moved to this part of the country. Alicia lives in a community that is set up in a stadium, so her situation should be fine for now.

Spending the night here, although it wasn't too cold where they were, they decided to make the place very snug so it would be more comfortable and they would be ready in case someone unfamiliar came into the room.

Judging from the trend of survivors entering unknown buildings in the past of days, if they met a small group of survivors, what they would normally do would be to remove all valuables and if they were from the wicked group they would do much darker things, and in order not to be unprepared, Airon shared weapons and left some traps ready that would warn them if there are some strangers entering this building.

Rubbing his frozen hands together, Airon looked at the silence of the illuminated surroundings. For some reason, after seeing many of the people he cared about, he felt a sense of depression as he imagined that this all turned out to be his fault.

No matter how things turned out, if he is the leader of a group of people and they die, it is his responsibility for the results of his choices? Was he really so arrogant to think that they could always come out unscathed?

When Airon finished eating, he looked at Alicia once again and asked her: "Why did you decide to help me by risking your life like that?

Alicia looked at the silent Airon who had broken the silence, and as she listened to his words she thought about it a little. This feeling of responsibility that Airon was feeling when people who followed him died was something she was afraid of when she was leading almost obligatorily at the Ranch before arriving at the stadium, so she understood more or less what Airon was suffering from.

And when she heard that question she thought about it, this time it was herself who decided to help him without caring about anything else so she said, "I don't know, it was very sudden and seeing that I was fighting against the Vultures I thought it would be a good idea to get you out of that place. Besides, I didn't think we'd ever see each other let alone like that."

"You never expected me to arrive in a helicopter? Come on, with your words you make me think that you never imagined that the city of Atlanta is a safe place." Airon spoke much more calmly, as he normally did with strangers.

Seeing that Airon had opened up a little more, Alicia smiled slightly, and after he mentioned about the city she became interested and asked him, "Do you really have a shelter in the city of Atlanta? Was that even possible? In the beginning there were thousands of walkers, so it's impressive that you pulled something like that off."

"It's not that big of a deal..." He was impressed that these accomplishments were credited to him alone, so he quickly added, "I just put the right people at the right times in positions where their potential can be utilized, right now my community is struggling to build a better future."

"But let me introduce myself properly, my name is Airon and although I don't like to mention my last name it is Darcy. I thank you very much for saving me from a place where I possibly died, I was very confused about the deaths of people important to me."

"I'm Alicia Clark."

Alicia smiled and sat down next to Airon to talk about the differences in Atlanta and Texas, although she knew there shouldn't be many, she wanted to know more about Airon and where he came from.

It should be known that to operate a helicopter nowadays and have so many guns you need to be from a strong community, so she was too intrigued in what would happen next since now the leader of that community is stuck in Texas.

The two of them chatted until late, Airon could swear he felt a little better and it did him a lot of good to think about solving all the problems he had caused and he would start by finding Morgan.
