Zhao Xing didn't have to go to school, for the time being as her mother thought she was better off resting at home.
She felt very happy to see their little apartment again. But she dreaded the laundry room. She didn't know what she had done to have received such bad luck and enter into a different world. Not just any world, but one like that, full of people scheming against each other all the time. She had almost forgotten how it felt to be free since she had to guard against the servants in the Noble Princess Manor, as well as worry about her safety no matter what time of the day she was out.
She won't forget the time of the assassination. She had tried to overlook it, because it wouldn't be the first time she would have to see such scenes. She didn't know how she had strangely adapted to such weird environment, where seeing people die was such a frequent occurrence and people wouldn't even bat an eye over it.
She wondered if it would affect her in the future when she would have to live a normal life with such weird mentality.
The day after she was discharged, Zhao Xing was left alone at home, her mother had gone back to work after taking a day off the day before, and Xiao Yun had gone to school.
If it was in the past, this would be the best thing that could ever happen. She'd probably play some music, max the volume and celebrate for a while before going ahead to do her favorite things. Spend her whole time playing.
But today was different, the small apartment suddenly became very spacious. She wasn't used to being 'this' alone.
'Hai! I was really spoilt.' She thought to herself, she stood in the living room with her hands on her hip, looking around at all the different rooms.
Before, when was she all by herself? She even had servants! She was already such a lazy person, yet this experience has made her 'condition' worsen. What's more, she only just got back to her world, and could finally reunite with her family, yet, they ruthlessly left her all alone at home.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
Just as she was silently lamenting about her situation she heard a knock at the door.
Zhao Xing: '??'
'Who was visiting so early in the morning? Delivery?' she thought. It was only 9, but they didn't usually have people visiting them, so Zhao Xing could only wonder.
She quickly made her way to the door, and looked through the peephole.
What she saw made her speechless.
She didn't waste time and quickly opened the door.
"What the hell are you guys doing here!?"
"Our Zhao Xing hardly takes a sick leave, such a huge matter, how can we take it lightly?" Shan Shan said as she walked passed her holding two bags with her.
"You guys dared skip class!?"
"Yeah, we dare, for friendship. Aren't we the best?" Shan Shan threw those words at her.
Lu Yang also followed, he too held a bag in each hand. He looked her up and down, then went right in without saying a word.
'Tch.' she'd forgive him for his ignorance. After all to them, the last time they had seen each other would be two days ago. But for her it was ages…I mean months, but still it was a long time, ok? He could at least say something like how have you been or something nice like that.
'Hopeless cold little guy, no wonder it's difficult for Shan Shan to get his signals.'
After Lu Yang had walked in there was the last one. She remembered was Jiang Chen. Before, when she was in the Xia Empire, she began to forget a lot of things, and even certain people. Jiang Chen was one of them. But now that she saw him, her memory of him also came back.
Well yes, her three friends where here to visit her. Both Lu Yang and Shan Shan barged in, not as guests, but as if they owned the house. Only Jiang Chen stood at the door and waited to be invited in.
"Zhao Xing…" He greeted with a smile.
Zhao Xing smiled back at him. "Come in, make yourself at home." Like the others. She didn't add that part lest it sounded sarcastic.
He whispered a thank you and came in. He looked a little nervous. But Zhao Xing remembered that he was the shy type and overlooked it.
"Aiya, the girl is all alone at home, must be fun right? Did we ruin it for you?" Shan Shan said a she looked around.
Lu Yang walked passed her and placed the bags in the kitchen, then quickly took the bags that Shan Shan held, as the girl seemed to have other things she wanted to do, and wasn't prepared to care about the things she held.
"This place is really clean, it thought it'd be worse considering how it always is whenever you're left alone." Shan Shan teased.
"The day has only just started, how can I dirty it so fast?"
Humph. Lu Yang scoffed loudly, making Zhao Xing annoyed.
"What's wrong with this kid? You came to visit the sick and you're putting up an attitude?" Zhao Xing almost kicked him.
"What did you guys get? So many bags?" Zhao Xing asked.
"Wasn't it Lu Yang? He said since you were sick you needed to eat good food, to replenish your strength, so he got so many groceries. But don't worry, I also got you your favorite snacks, hehe…" Shan Shan answered and giggled cutely at the end of her statement.
When Zhao Xing heard this she was elated. "Lemme see, lemme see!"
Lu Yang stopped her, "You probably haven't had breakfast yet, right?"
"…" Zhao Xing's expression froze. Her mother didn't want to wake her up early that morning and let her sleep in. But she left food on the table with a note saying she shouldn't forget to take her medication.
She was already fed up taking medicine all the time, so she ignored the note and the food altogether.
Lu Yang saw her silence shook his head helplessly.
"Go sit down, I'll cook."
"Heh, I must have saved the universe in my last life to have friends like you."
Lu Yang shamelessly nodded. "Indeed." As he put on the apron. "But you'll also have to thank Jiang Chen, all we did was pick, he paid."
"Ah?"
