Chapter Fourteen

  "What's the update?"

"I'm afraid there's nothing unusual to update sir."

  "What do you mean?"

"Mr Diamond if you are suspicious of your wife's affiars I can assure you nothing over the top is happening right now. I didn't check in because I didn't think it was worth reporting."

"I am paying you to drive my wife and report what ever she does so yes even the little mundane activities should be reported."

  " I apologize. "

" Now tell me what did she do all day."

"She did some shopping at the mall for presents then we went to the Grace and Mercy orphanage so the kids can get the presents and then she got a call from her friend Miss Wilkins I believe whose father had just past away."

All the while he was relating Rella's activities for the day, the chauffeur was standing stoically with his hands in front if him and no expression on his face.

  "And?"

  "That is all."

  You're kidding.

Stefan stared at the chauffeur in confusion wondering if the man was hiding something from him but  Collin did not strike him as the sentimental type but the type to be loyal to a job even if it kills him.

Stefan sat supine in his chair thinking before he dismissed Collin. What was he thinking? It's not like there's some sort of conspiracy going on. He didn't know what he was going to gain by hiring someone to follow her or maybe she was simply testing waters until it was safe for her to go back to her old ways because he didn't believe for a second that she's changed and he needed to make sure that she doesn't tarnish his family's image.

He decided to give it a few days at least sooner or later she would show her true colours.

" Would you like to have dinner brought to your room Madam?" Henry asked. Rella would love that actually she doesn't want any disturbance she was tired and she could feel the tell tale signs of a headache.

  "Yes."

  "No."

Rella pivoted to see Stefan coming down the stairs hands in his chinos pants pocket. He was casually dressed in white Tshirt. "Cindy and I will have dinner together tonight I'm sure she would love it wouldn't you?" He faced her this time and Tell could see his eyes shining with mischief and she wondered what he could be up to.

"I guess." Rella said still in shock.

  Seconds ticked by.

The silence was defeaning and the awkwardness palpable. Rella continued to stab into her sweet potato nibbling a few bites here and there not quite eating. She was starving a moment ago but she seemed to have lost her appetite. Stefan on the other hand wasn't really stabbing into his meal but he was taking a few bits here and there.

At least she wasn't only one feeling awkward.

  "You're not eating what's wrong?"

  "Nothing."

"I heard a friend of yours lost her dad, and that you went to see her."

Rella's head jerked up. How does he know that?

"Were you spying on me?" She demanded her tone dangerously low.

Stefan stuttered at being caught off guard he didn't think she'd actually put two and two together.

  "I cannot believe this."

"It's nothing like that I just wanted to make sure you were okay." He said lying through his teeth.

Rella huffed her appetite completely gone. The nerve of him!

"You should've stayed the night with her."

If Rella was angry at being followed she was was fuming at his remark.

"Yeah of course silly me I could've avoided this disastrous scenerio." She threw her hands up and got on her feet. "You know what?" She slammed the napkin on the table her eyes glaring fiery daggers at him. "Thanks for reminding me what an insensitive asshole you are. I get that you don't like me and would want to get rid of me but can you not make it any obvious!?"

Rella stormed away leaving a very stunned and pissed off Stefan.

She slammed her bedroom door behind her, her chest heaving in fury. She furiously wiped at the tears on her face then buried her face in her pillow and screamed in frustration.

Stefan wondered what he'd done wrong. What he meant when he said she should've stayed with her friend was because he knew how bad grief can get especially when you're alone he more than anyone knows what it feels like to lose a parent he still feels the pain that loss even today. Yes he may have gone overboard by having het chauffeur spy on her but it was for his peace of mind.

Why couldn't she see that he meant no disrespect? Why must he always be the villain?

If she wasn't so stubborn she would see that he actually cared.
