Chapter 1Prologue (Intro)

<Warning ⚠: Contain some graphic descriptions not suitable for some readers. Please read at your own discretion.>

The most anomalous and secretive scientific project in history, VILER-D was going to be aborted in its experimental phase. The project was said to be only conducted on the human.

But tragically, no VILER-D human trial survived the test, which was the exact opposite result of the theoretical investigation.

The project would lead humanity into a new era and would be regarded as science's greatest achievement, if it works, as per their study and research. The project was only getting started, but it was unable to make a breakthrough to advance.

Some subjects in human trials were compelled to give up their lives in exchange for money and necessities, but only a small minority (almost insignificant) agreed despite being aware of the experiment's brutality.

The human test subjects were tortured emotionally even before they passed away, and the suffering was so intense that they wished for a quicker end.

Even a small number of kids were forced to participate in the trial, although the majority of them were older than 10 years old.

The public, humanitarian organizations, and even international law were against the project because of the nearly 100% human death rate.

It stopped operating in view of public as a result of the failure and criticism.

However, some individuals and the AIRS organization, which had originated the VILER-D project, continued to carry out the tests underground, away from the public's view.

They had indeed been given time until the absolute last minute to shut down completely by the government.

The scientists, researchers, and lecturers gave it their all, right up until the final second of the ultimatum, working nonstop and forfeiting even their thirst and appetite.

Only hoped to succeed before the deadline at midnight, but regrettably, no progress.

Everyone became anxious and tense as the deadline drew near. Only the core members of AIRS remained after several people left. Their sweat and labor had been in vain; the atmosphere had grown grim along with the experiment.

Everyone in attendance was aware of how cruel the VILER-D project was, but to the mad scientists, what could be better than conducting the research, performing the tests, and achieving success?

They were unconcerned with human life following death.

Three individuals in their fifties were standing on the second level, peering down at the lab through the clear glass.

Two of them were completely expressionless and silent, but only one, who had a mole on his left cheek, showed signs of sadness and frustration before breaking his silence and speaking.

"What should we do next? Will we actually shut it down? How could our theoretical study of years go in vain? What about our aim to create an indestructible human...?? "

However, there was no response. In the office space, just his vibrant voice could be heard.

"Arghh...Just say something. We need to say a few words to those members as we, three, are the heads of AIRS Org for God's sake. Make some decisions and motivate them." his loud and angry voice reverted in the office room once again.

Then one of the men with silver hair spoke, "It is as decided. Tell them to return. They will--"

Before he could continue, a low grunting sound could be heard clearly in the spacious underground lab at the border of the nations of Wosmea and Freuna.

(Oh!! Yes, this was AIRS's hidden underground lab.)

Because someone survived, everyone was astounded and genuinely surprised.

Finally, because someone was still alive, it could be argued that the human trials for project VILER-D were successful at the last minute.

However, because the survivor was an infant who was only fifteen weeks old, no one could maintain their excitement and was unsure of what to do. At least two decades should pass before the infant becomes an adult to obtain the ultimate results and examine the full scenario of the VILER-D study.

This one and only infant human trial, which was only less than a year old, was part of VILER-D's human trial and has survived.

To decide the fate of the newborn, some elderly people were summoned to a meeting on the top level. The remaining participants in the lab were divided into three groups to argue.

Group 1: "This child is the first successful human trial of our research so should be kept here in the lab, under our daily observation."

Group 2: "Exactly, it is the first success so let it live a normal life as the survivor is only an infant. But let's observe silently as the child grows up in a natural way."

Group 1: "No way, the higher-ups have decided to end this research so the child is the only success of our research, so stays here."

Group 2: "Whatever but it needs to live like a normal human being, then only we can know the progress, changes, stage of evolution, and development of our experiment."

"No we can't."....the discussion went on. One group stayed silent saying to act as higher-up decides.

Even when the noise in the room was loud, besides grunting every once in a while the baby was asleep in the incubator.

The child's head and chest had stitch marks visible if anyone had bothered to look. The child's complexion was dark blue, there were injection scars, and there was only a thin layer of skin covering the bones. It appeared as though the child was starved and had no muscles.

The baby's situation was heartbreaking.

Everyone was prepared to decide the child's future even though it was uncertain if the infant could live.

This one infant was a part of the study even before it was born. The kid was abandoned as a subject in a human experiment. Poor fellow!!

The sound of clapping caused the laboratory to go silent.

A group of grey-haired people were being led by a man in his early fifties with blue eyes (the same one who didn't talk earlier) and spoke in a serious format "The child will be kept in the lab under close monitoring. Here the VILER-D project and the human test experiment come to an end as the government and the public have decided. Give the child a secure atmosphere and a favorable environment for growth. The public and anyone else besides AIRS Org will not learn about the trial's success. Nobody should bring it up, because otherwise, they will face my wrath."

Everyone in the room was terrified of the man and took his warning seriously. Everyone stopped bringing up the topic of the infant after that.

Some people sympathized with the child for having to grow up in such a cruel, harsh environment but there was nothing they could do.

After a week had passed since the decision, a young man entered the lab unnoticed, approached the infant, unlocked the incubator, and gently but carefully carried the baby out of the building.

It was shocking because nobody else had seen the intrusion.

However, a pair of icy eyes watched every movement of the young man from the distant darkness but didn't notify anyone. A light trace of maternal love in the eyes vanished as soon as it appeared.

Even after a thorough search the following day, the kid was nowhere to be discovered.

The search continued, but no leads were found, making it appear as though the infant had simply vanished.

But despite losing the child, some people were at ease.
