The Unexpected Phone Call

Dariel was stunned when he saw his phone screen displaying the name Aquila Jefferson, the mother of his best friend Arthur. He raised his eyebrows, feeling a sense of unease.

He ignored the first call, lost in thought and guessing why Aquila might be calling. But she didn't give up. Dariel's phone rang again.

Despite his nerves, Dariel finally answered her call.

"Hello, Aunt? Sorry, I was in the bathroom," he said, telling a slight lie.

[Ah, no worries. I should apologize for bothering you. Are you busy right now?]

"No, not at all. Is there something I can help with?"

[Actually, it's about Lea. I know about their relationship. Has the baby been born?]

"Uh …well .…" Dariel paused, scratching his temple as he searched for an answer in his confusion. Damn, he had no idea what to say.
