It's a gamble. Honestly, first person, it's a fifty-fifty. You can write something fabulous... or completely ruin it. First person has a major drawback : depersonalisaion. Paradoxal, no ? First person can show thoughts, but it has tendency to crush personnality. We see less because we are too much "in" the character. It's real talent to be able to write a 3D character at the first person. So good luck.
