Chapter 37

"I really don't think this is a good idea."

Jake looked over from the passenger seat of his truck and smiled at the beautiful blonde next to him. "Courtney, everyone needs to learn how to drive sometime."

"What if I crash, though?"

He rubbed the back of his head and grinned. "Well, then I guess I can finally buy a new truck. Austin's been after me to do it for awhile now."

"Not funny, Jake."

He thought it was pretty funny. Figuring she would start in her own time, he waited patiently for her to be ready while the truck idled. After a few minutes she sighed her resignation.

"Okay, darlin'." He shifted closer in the bucket seat. "Now put your foot on the left pedal. That's the brake." He pointed to the gear shift. She shifted the truck into drive and let out an amusing squeal when the truck rolled forward. He couldn't hide the humor in his voice. "Good. Now lightly touch the gas pedal and steer straight."
