So far pretty good. The characters all seem to have brains and personalities - meaning that they do not display random character traits and behaviours at odds with everything we've learnt about them so far. The FL is mistreated, but in a believable way - it's more accurate to say that rather than being actively mistreated she was just neglected by her family (except her mother). I haven't fully formed by opinion on her sister - I really hope that she exceeds by expectations and didn't "snatch" our FL's love away from her but was rather compelled by social/family circumstances to marry him. The whole thing is a mystery and I really hope the author has a satisfying conclusion to it.
The ML... at this point is still fairly blank, but at least he owns up to his own behaviour rather than pretending to be something he's not: he admits that he is cold, cruel and that his relationships with women are not for love. The FL goes into it also knowing this. He also hasn't been magically won over by the FL's pitiful situation in a matter of days, which is nice.
So far, this is looking promising. If it can continue developing in this manner it will be a decent, readable story.
