Carson knew that their friendship was an odd one and could never go anywhere. Yet he couldn't help but wonder what might be if things were different.

Even if Ivy was able to turn her telepathy off someday because of his efforts there was still no way she would accept him. But what if she hadn't had powers in the first place? They were still in the same classes for a good chunk of their academic lives.

He couldn't believe it took so long to notice her properly. They had only gotten to know each other because of her telepathy but what if he had talked to her sooner or vice versa?

Then again…the main things they had in common were because of her powers. There was a very good chance they wouldn't have become friends the way they had without them pushing things along.

Thinking about that was pointless. Carson did know her and cared about her because things happened exactly the way they did. At this point all he wanted was for her to be able to live normally and fulfill her dream.
