Neobear
Good chapter. For every answer. Three more questions come up. At first I thought the magic stones were needed for their technology, but instead we find out that magic in general is disappearing. And that the stones postponed that development. Is the reason for the super storm separation. Due to keeping magic from disappearing? Some many questions. Then stack on top of that a disparate greedy invasion. Can’t wait to see the UN Super Carrier on the move
Its difficult to compete against the already perfected and matured industrial technologies of UN as it is when compared to primitive workshops of the isles. Even putting aside that, UN impose strict enforcement against scammers(in the past, the claymore division foiled a scam attempt thanks to their standardized education), so naturally merchants will feel more at ease trading with UN. But man, guess there will be political upheaval between the empire of new world and the old world soon. One thing for sure, this chapter reveals how screwed the population of the old world are if magic power seems to have sign of extinction among the populace. Thanks for the chapter neobear! Lore has been interesting as always :)
gratz on 500 chapters man. All of em gold. So far as I can tell, magic is a radioactive element leftover by the gods in this world. it is there form of energy that is harnessed by their soldiers through mutation. the problem with the old world seems to be that they have been harvesting that remaining leftover energy too quickly, like oil or coal, and now there isn't enough radioactive buildup to not only maintain the magical mutations in the beast, but in the people as well. The new world still likely has an abundance die to the fact that they haven't had the chance to grow their usage of magic crystals due to a lack of efficient power consumption. requiring a massive stone from a dangerous creature for any meaningful spell every time is a losing proposition each time and gives diminishing returns. But I suspect that with both the UN and Old worlders now usingagic crystals like tin, it won't be more than a decade before magic starts running out in the old world as well. Still a great mystery and set up though since this is only my guess
Yeah, the UN has twenty slow-moving warships because of their dipliatated engines that made them unable to catch up to even a 19th century steam ship, weapons that can't even penetrate wooden hulls of the 17th century 1st rate warships, and durability can't even last longer than a raft someone made. (Yeah, this is satire/sarcasm. I myself don't know.)
