Did It Work?

All I can feel is fire... burning fire. The pain is crippling and even though I want to cry out in pain I can't.. I can't move at all. The only relief I get is when someone gives me something to drink but the relief only last for a short while before it's back. Over and over again and I beg for it to come to an end. Just let me die!

"I think you took it a little too far Vampire.." Rune growls as he stands by Syn's sleeping body. Leon looks from Syn and to the dark fae "I kept things very mild fae… everything is going well so far and it won't be long before she wakes up." Rune grunts and holds Syn's limp hand gently rubbing it and says "How much longer will she have to drink your blood..."

Leon looks back down to Syn and says "That depends on her.. she may not need it at all after waking up but she could need it up to a year after changing.." Rune grits his teeth and does his best to push his beast down. He hated this.. all of this but they had no choice and he would do anything in his power to keep her alive.

Just thinking back to what took place on the couch nearly has him foaming at the mouth... I'm going to burn the damn couch. I know that everything that happened was normal.. I know what effect Vampires can have.. especially one as old and powerful as Leon.. I know.. but that doesn't make it any easier. My eyes snap back to Syn when I feel her move and I smile when I see her awakening.

I slowly blink my eyes and try to turn to my side. The bed felt so good and I was so tired... I could probably sleep for days. "Syn?" I hear Rune call me and my eyes snap open. Everything suddenly comes rushing back and I quickly sit up. "Whoa.. slowly." Rune says and I look at him with a blank look.

I start checking myself internally but I don't feel any different... at all. If anything I feel even more tired. "What happened? Did it not work?" I reach up to my teeth feeling for fangs but find nothing.. what the hell... I look to find Rune and Leon looking at me with a mix of disbelief and confusion.

Leon cuts his wrist and offers the fresh blood but the smell and sight is off putting. Leon frowns and reaches for a cup and judging by the smell it was blood as well. I give him a strained smile but shake my head, pushing the cup away. "This.. this has never happened before. It should have worked..." Leon says completely at a loss.

I turn to Rune and see the worry on his face matching my own. My eyes water but I refuse to cry.. This was the last thing I was holding onto.. the last bit of hope and it didn't work. My thoughts go back to selling my soul and I quickly dismiss it. No matter how scary dying is.. selling my soul was far worse.

"Well... we tried our best." I say with a small smile that has Rune frowning. "This can't be the only thing that can save you. I will make a trip to the north to see the Mages. They may have something that can help.. it's a long shot but I refuse to sit here and just give up."

I look to the end of the bed and find Fig's little body balled up and sleeping. Thinking back to the time I was struck by the lightening to all the other messed up things... I've escaped death quiet a few times and call me crazy but even cats have a limit of nine lives.. I find myself smiling and accepting it. What else can I do?

"Do you have to leave?" I ask Rune as feel another wave of exhaustion wash over me. I don't know how much time I have left and I don't want to spend my last moments without him. Rune reaches over and runs his long fingers through my hair and says "I can't just sit here waiting for you to leave me.. I have to do something. I have to find a way to save you and staying here isn't going to do that." I give him a small smile and say "I understand.. just hurry back."
