One chapter might have an average of around 2500 words. At the very minimum, they should at least be longer than 1500 words. This is why, for a webnovel author to become successful, their writing speed must be at minimum three to five thousand words per day. When calculating this by months, this means that you need to write at least 45,000 to 75,000 words per month. This is the most basic requirement. *Coughs up blood and dies*
I think we should take this advice with a grain of salt. 5000 words a day is overkill in my opinion. I think he wrote this for a Chinese audience though. I remembered that back in secondary school, a good English essay was "more than 350 words" whereas a good Chinese essay was "more than 750 words(characters)". I thinks it's just about how Chinese characters are naturally smaller and thinner looking than English words. 我喜欢读书 I like to read books Same amount of words and same meaning. However, in the long run, that length does add up, and making an English novel, in my opinion, harder to write in such lengths.
Some good points, but the whole thing is lacking structure, starts randomly without any introduction part and doesn't feel like the author looked beyond the web part of a webnovel. Try this .. its a bad idea but you can train with it.. or try that.. it's also a bad idea but you can learn from it.. instead of starting with bad habits that you will have a hard time getting rid of later on, better do some research first, give your novel the time and effort it needs and avoid churning out yet another product with bad quality acting just as clickbait to enhance some company's revenue. It is never just about how long a novel is or how many chapters an author can write per Fax. If the quality is bad because of the fast pace, all you do is ruining your reputation in the long run.
If you have general idea about what you are going to write 5000 is not a problem. Actually, the problem lies here. You don't have to think about numbers, you better think about what to write. As soo as you have an idea numbers are not problems. p.s. actually my problem is opposite to this. When i start writing i can't stop and write too much words than it's needed.
5,000 words per day isn't as difficult as it sounds. If you know what your characters are supposed to be doing in a given scene ... What's their goal? What is their environment like? Who is there with them? What would they say to one another? ... Then it's not difficult to write 1k words in an hour. The real problem comes with editing. If you're the type of person who wants to go back line by line to "fix" your story, then your output will slow down. 5k per day is perfectly reasonable for people who trust their writing. Just don't think so hard. Imagine your story like it's a movie in your head and let your hands create the story for you.
I like Webnovel's "just write" motto. It literally won me over. I wasn't a writer until I've seen my sister too hooked up with whatever she is reading on Christmas Eve. And now after reading this, to have at least a minimum of 2,500words per chapter, I guess I can't consider myself yet a novel writer. 🤣
Thanks for the tips in this book. I will go through the entire chapters to get an insight to what all is needed here. I am a published author and my novel published was for children ( Granny's Return from Heaven as an Incredible Car'. It is of 200 pages but I had not counted the number of words. As you say here that the speed should be @ 2500 words per chapter. Hence, before I think of writing a novel here, I should have the novel written/typed on my computer, edited as well as run through the plagiarism checkers. before thinking of posting it here.
