The story the author writes is one of those few stories that really connects with you. For that reason, I'd put this as one of the best web novels I've ever read. There's the right mix of everything, from action, comedy, to just plain world-building. I don't mean to exaggerate, but it's almost like Lord of the Rings or the Star Wars Universe. You really need to read this through at least twice to really appreciate the attention to detail. Hell, maybe the author even put in some philosophical themes or whatnot, and I didn't even notice. I wouldn't doubt it if that were the case, it's certainly a novel worthy of an erudite. To put it simply, this is an absolutely riveting read, definitely worth your time.
The story is very rich filled with characters that don't just serve to further the plot but are there for reasons, each having their own unique traits. The chapters themselves does not make me feel as if I were reading some fillers here and there, no massive info dumps as well. Although the story may be too slow for other people it's still a nice read.
A story about mages and weird things happening to our MC which is one. The magic usage is interesting though it isn't quite explained how a mage ends up setting their primary magic form. Accompanied by a great sense of humor that reflects our young MC executed in a very engaging manner. It is an upbeat story even with horrible things happening(except for the prologue) that makes the characters stronger through them.
Up to Chapter 17- This is quite good, and the writing is exceptional that I read all chapters in one sitting. The things lacking- 1) characters are bit lacking 2) little to no excitements and it is quite boring 3) we don't know anything much about the world yet but maybe it would be elaborated more in the future. Overall, good read.
If you get passed the prologue, the novel is really worth the read so far. The prologue is a chaotic info. dump where you're shown too many characters to care, but the pace of the actual novel is great! Fleshed out characters, a mysterious title, dialogue that does more than drive the plot, and a world that isnt an info dump- the MC is a young character that needs basic information at times so as a reader we learn along with him. Push past the prologue and you'll find a likeable MC that isn't your basic OP lead that knows everything because he's living a second life.
Just to clarify, when I put 4 stars, that is QUITE good actually. I tend to rate things lower, just to give room in case I run across the most amazing story of all time. I'd say the writing is very well done, quite a bit better than normal, and shows a good grasp of the English language. A lot of the story reminded me more of Western storytelling tropes rather than Eastern, but that isn't a bad thing, and can be a welcome change of pace. Now we just need to get this pumped up to 14 updates a week. I believe you can do it!
