THE HOT SEAT INTERVIEW

I woke up without Edge in my side. I felt the emptiness now. I guess he doesn't come back since yesterday. I knew he is still mad until now. But I need to get up because I need to, and I had scheduled to attend today.

"Maybe, there is an emergency yesterday that he needed to run to." I assumed while looking at the doorway.

I go straight into the bathroom to take a bath and prepared myself for today's event. I wore my black trouser, ivory tunic top, rosewood blazer coat, and black pumps. I put on some minimal makeup and a high ponytail for my long brown hair. I brought my Chanel peach handbag as I put my phone, credit cards, identification cards, and some cash, in case of emergency later. And I also brought a water bottle as always.

"Hello, Miss Caroline?" I answered her call.

"Where are you?" She approached.

"I'm still in my room, but I will be there in 15 minutes. Function room, right?" I confirmed.

"Yes, I will be waiting for you at the front door." She said.

"Okay, okay, see you!" I hang up.

I left a note on the side table for Edge if he comes back here while I'm in the event. I walked out of the room and went to the function room.

While looking in the function room, I bumped into someone.

"I'm sorry, Miss." The guy apologized.

Before I said something to him, I heard Miss Caroline calling me. "Heaven, we're here!"

I shrugged before walking toward her as I responded to her. "Coming!"

"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen!" The host greeted.

"Today, we are here to witness the collaboration of the Easton Publishing Company, owned by Director Maverick Easton, with one of our aspiring and best-selling book author in our country. Let's all welcome our beautiful and young author, round applause for Miss Heaven Ace de Torres!" The host introduced me to the crowd.

I happily smiled. I was walking on the stage, but I spotted an unexpected person in the crowd. He is genuinely smiling at me.

"Compose yourself, Heaven." I whispered to myself.

I sat down between Director Maverick and my dear manager, Miss Caroline.

I looked in the crowd again. The guy was already disappeared. Maybe I was hallucinating a while ago.

The program started. The host was too goofy the whole event to avoid dead air. The host has already done with the quick event program and the event objectives. That means I have already signed my contract.

I have my short speech about this event.

"Hello, I am Heaven Ace de Torres, your aspiring author, and I am proudly said I'm also a special education teacher! Good day! Another opportunity for me has begun. Honestly, I was not expecting to have this contract with Easton Publishing Company, yet I am glad to have collaborated with you. I am not bragging anything, but I am proud to say that this was my 6th contract. I won't say any dramatic message to everybody, but I would like to say thank you to everyone here today. Thank you, Director Maverick, for giving me this opportunity. Thank you, Miss Caroline, my manager, for helping me since day one. Thank you, E.P.C. staff and The Oriental Bataan, for accommodating the event today." I happily said to the crowd before sat down again.

The host announced the interview from the media to me.

"Miss Heaven, my question is about your ongoing story. Can you tell us some point of view or the main perspective in this story that we can wait to read on?" Reporter 1 asked.

Hot seat alert! I'm still not used to it, always like my first time.

I smiled as I hold on to the microphone. "The story was kind of one-sided love story but with a twist. About Everleigh, a girl who wanted closure to Hezekiah, her high school crush, that guy she loved before, but she got a friend zone. Their encounter again will start on a bridal shower for Everleigh's closest friend. Typically plot, they bumped to each other, and then something weird happened but with a twist and so on."

"Is this story was a personal experience basis or fictional only?" Reporter 2 asked.

"Well, it was both personal and fictional story." I replied.

"Personal experience, so may I assume that you've been in a friend zone before?" Reporter 3 approached.

I laughed, "Honestly speaking, yes, I've been friend zone like Everleigh."

"So, how are you back then?" Reporter 4 asked.

"I was heartbroken back then. I gain trust issues from every guy, yet I am easily get attached to some guys. I was too harsh to talk in a guy, and I had also been friend-zoned someone way back on my 1st-year college." I honestly spoke.

"How did you overcome this stage?" Reporter 5 asked.

"Well, on my sophomore year, my so-called scam line before, which is study first," I giggled, "I don't expect that there is someone named Engineer Royce Edge Sullivan, my boyfriend, who gain my trust again and show me that not all the guy is not like my first love, which is my high school crush who friend-zoned me before. He knew it was hard to court me because the world will be against us, especially I have a strict family and my college friends, but he shows us he is serious to me, and he can wait for me until I graduated from college." I stopped for a while.

"But silly me, I do remember how I say my yes to him before, I do some prank him like saying that my brother wanted to tell him to stop courting me, but in reality, I am ready to say my yes to him. He told me after I told him that he wanted to walk away, but before that, I asked him to ask me those words if I am saying yes to him already. He confusedly asked me. I smiled nodded to him while saying yes, that is how we started as a couple until now, we are going at our 8th year together next month and counting." I got teary-eyed while reminiscing our days together.

Everybody giggled about our love story as they continued asking me both personal and random questions.

"What is love?" The 10th reporter asked.

"They said love is about those things that we are willing to sacrifice something to have it like our own life. Me as a writer, love is like a book. Why? Because that was the best part of every story. Like characters and those scenarios that are proving without love. A story doesn't express anything interesting to attract readers. They always say, don't judge a book by its cover. But the plot contents and characters." I explained.

"For the last question Miss Heaven, before we end this program. There is a personal question for you. If one of these days, you bumped into the guy who broke your heart before, what will you want to say to him?" The host asked.

"I would like to ask him for a clarification for what I found out about his true feelings to me if he truly has, and I want to say thank you for hurting me before because you let me found my man that I will always cherish for rest of my life." I happily said.

The program ended. I told my manager that I would be joining them to dinner with Director Maverick tonight, but I also told her that I wanted to spend my free time roaming around here with my Edge. She agreed and let me go out first.
