Chapter Ten

Jon Arryn was sitting at his desk thinking about how the fuck everything got out of control, 1 year had passed since his pupil became king, and the only thing it brought him was a big headache without a doubt.

He still wasn't over Lyanna Stark, and most of the time was spent drunk or in some brothel in the city, not giving a damn about what was happening to the kingdom as he just needed to satisfy his desire, which he was never going to be able to do since the one he loved wasn't with her.

Whatever he did with Robert did not work, in his mind, the only woman that existed was Lyanna Stark, with an absent king everything depended on his hand, and he did not mind the idea of commanding over anyone, because practically Robert gave him the power for that, but he had political enemies like the Lannisters mainly, since much of the political power belonged to that house, thanks to Cersei being the queen, but she did not make those people occupy such positions, no. The real armorer of this was Tywin Lannister the golden lion, who used his daughter as a pawn to corner him and take away his power, but that was not going to happen, he was not going to lose what in his mind he deserved.

Then there were the Northerners, they had completely lost control of the North, and the only ones who ruled that house were the Starks, practically all the northern houses followed the Starks, as always the only house that was against them were the Boltons, and their vassal house the Whitehills. They were the only ones who were against the Starks, how did he know that, well because now House Bolton was no longer the second most powerful house in the North, they had not lost their position, and how the Starks did to be able to do that, was a secret that no one could know, so far they could not have contact with the Boltons to pass him information about what the fuck was happening in the North.

The changes were not good in Jon's mind, and less when they came from the north, Moat Cailin was rebuilt and the person who was in charge of that bastion was nothing less than his former ward Ned, no doubt something that made him angry because it meant that he was not going to influence Winterfell, they pushed Ned away for anything that he could influence, but the worst was not there when he sent a letter to Eddard to know the changes that were in the north, or if they needed help for anything, it was never answered.

It also didn't help that Varys' spies were hunted, because if for some reason they managed to enter the North, their heads would appear in Varys' residence, that only implied that the North knew that they were looking for information. What forced them to use the Boltons, was the reason why they could not have contact with them, because of the laws of the north.

The Northerners were a stickler for the laws, but therein lay Jon's fear, if they used the Boltons as a means of information and were discovered, they were going to lose the only house that could neutralize the actions of House Stark from within. This was undoubtedly very annoying from his point of view, the Northerners were nothing more than beasts, who only had to serve to be used and nothing more. But he was never going to say that in front of a northerner, because even if he did not like it, they were very close to the valley, any attack meant the end of the valley if they knew where to attack, even against the defenses that the valley had, but a naval attack meant the end, and as they could see the Manderly activated again the northern naval force, with ships that so far no one could describe, another point to take into account.

That point was very bad because if the North had naval strength right now, he could quietly attack the weak points of the Vale via sea that was certainly a headache for him, as it meant he didn't have to anger the North. The Vale had the best warriors in the west capable of fighting in any weather, but the Northerners, they were bloodthirsty, they enjoyed war and the only way to stop them was for the ruling house to control them, or they were all dead because they were not going to stop until they finished off their enemies.

One thing that House Stark had, is that it controlled them for the most part, and every time someone tried to get smart they could quietly stop them, the Boltons were an example of that, every time they rose against House Stark, they all lost, and their lives were spared out of pity. But if a Southern house attempted the North, they would not hesitate to annihilate that house. What were the Northerners hiding so that their vigilance would be very cautious, that did not give him a good feeling, it was a big problem, one that he had to find a way to tackle, he could not have a strong North, since in a short time they would want to be independent of the crown.

- "Varys, you have information about..." - Jon did not wish to show that he was desperate, but the words he had chosen, so he took a more confident stance, trying to forget that for seconds he lost his composure - "You have any news from the realms."

- "I am sorry to disappoint you Lord Hand, but everything I have come to tell you will only give you a bad omen for the future" - Varys was not going to show his true intentions, a weak kingdom was certainly going to make his plans go as he hoped, after all a weak kingdom was going to be easy to conquer, - "The Lions want more power in the kingdom, the roses are still angry, the trout are not happy with their neighbors, the wolves continue to grow strong and the Krakens think they can do whatever they want."

- "What about the Greyjoys?" - The Iron Island born were never happy to be part of the seven kingdoms, but they were afraid of the Dragon, they did not fare well when the Targaryen invaded the islands, by the sea the Greyjoys were a force to be reckoned with, but with Dragons, they were not.

- "Apparently, their discomfort goes mainly because House Stark rebuilt their naval fleet" - Varys analyzed the actions of the Greyjoys, if they attacked the North he would have no problem as it would weaken them, no doubt a very important point - "It doesn't help that the Tullys were not doing a very good job controlling the Ironborn, because of their anger at House Stark."

- "Then for the moment it is not something important" - Jon showed no interest or appeared not to since Varys could detect that the Ironborn could attack the northerners, which was welcome, so he had several problems less - "The only kingdom that does not represent any problem so far is Dorne."

- "While it's a good idea to let the Greyjoys attack the Starks, we don't know everything that's going on there" - Varys knew he had to have everything he needed to stop the North, and information was paramount to his plans, and make them all destroy each other, so he had already sent a letter to the Boltons, in hiding from Jon, because it was necessary - "We need to use the Boltons to obtain information."

.

Fort Terror (North)

Fort Terror is the settlement of House Bolton. It is a fortress located on the banks of the River of Tears, in the eastern region of the North. It is located east of the Lonely Hills, north of Sheepshead Hill, and south of the River Latter.

Fort Terror is a strong stone fortress, with high, thick walls, massive towers, and tall triangular battlements that appear to form a row of fangs.

The great hall is dark, with a vaulted ceiling, smoke-blackened beams, and rows of chandeliers gripped by human skeleton hands protruding from the walls. There are long tables in front of a dais with a high table. It is said to be a cursed castle that still retains the torture dungeons and a special room where the Boltons hang the skins of their enemies, including several lords of House Stark predating the Bolton defeat and their subjugation to the Starks.

House Bolton is an ancient and powerful Northern house that for many centuries was the most important rival to the Kings in the North, the Starks of Winterfell. As red kings, the Boltons had some victories over the Starks, even flaying some of them, then hanging their bodies from the walls of their fortress. According to rumor, some Bolton lords even wore the skins of their enemies as cloaks. This practice earned them a sinister reputation, suggesting that the legendary Night's King was a Bolton.

The last Red King, Rogar the Hunter, presented his surrender to Winterfell when the Andala Invasion of Westeros had just begun. About a thousand years earlier, the Boltons finally swore allegiance to the Kings in the North and agreed to abandon the practice of flaying their enemies. However, some three hundred years later, they raised a revolt against the Starks of Winterfell. The Stark armies besieged Fort Dread for some years and the Boltons finally capitulated and swore allegiance once more. But the red kings lost power, and Roose Bolton watched in irritation as the might of what was once the second most powerful house in the North went to shit in just two years.

He did not realize that his soldiers were hunted, when they went out hunting or on watch, they never returned, that made him furious, they were taking away his power and he could do nothing the worst came in a letter that came from the king's landing, notifying that they needed his help because of the advances of the north.

In two years, he did not know of those advances, ships they did not know how to describe, something he did not know since he never saw them or rather when the fuck a naval force was raised, that bothered Roose a lot who luckily was alone in his room or he was going to kill anyone who entered it. He was furious since if the north was powerful the Stark bastard increased the power, he hated the Starks, always being in power, always humiliating them since after the last red king knelt before a Stark it was not the same, the Boltons tried to oppose the Starks again after a while, but they were humiliated.

And the humiliation went when the Starks didn't kill them, many thought the Starks were idiots for not eliminating the house that caused them the most headache. But the Boltons looked at it from another point of view, they thought that the Starks did not eliminate them, because they did not want to waste time, no matter how many times they rebelled against the king of the north, they were always going to be defeated and a way of indicating that no one had to oppose the Stark house of Winterfell, and that made his head boil much more.

- "Damn child, you are responsible for all this" - Roose clenched the letter with fury, to leave the room, he was going to make a tour to know what was happening in the north, he was going to sell information to the Southerners, but he was not going to ask for money, no, he was going to ask them to support him when he makes his coup against the Starks and the Boltons will be the ruling house in the north - "I swear I will have your head as a trophy."

.

Winterfell

In the two years since Harry took power in the north, and 1 year since Robert came to the throne, things were going much better than anyone would think, the northern houses were making a lot of money, in his time you would never think that a child would have so many refreshing ideas, all the northern noble houses were making money in different ways, trading with the outside world as well as just doing business internally, which also made money by the rules that Lord Stark put in place.

Of course, this only added to the strength of the reign of House Stark, the only absolute power in the North, and the Northerners were extremely happy with how things were going in what they called the new North.

Reigned solely by a Stark as their ancestors did before the Targaryens and their dragons came to the west, and speaking of dragons, they were also eager for the dragons to grow, none had any doubt that the only house to have such creatures at their disposal would be the Starks, and those with Dragon blood so that these magnificent animals would not get out of control. In addition, they were also in the studies of the other animals, to know if they were in perfect conditions not to be a risk for the northerners.

But with a powerful north, out came the beliefs, the rumor that Harry Stark was sent by the old gods to make the north a free kingdom, and though it seems a far-fetched rumor, the northerners believed in it. Because their lord brought innovations to the north, he was able to make the formerly called wildlings join the north and be called Vikings an elite northern force, there was no discrimination before them, the Vikings were just another northerner.

They thought that their Lord was sent by the ancient gods that they prayed and asked for so much, to stop being harassed by the Southerners, they were listened to, and they did not care that their lord was a mixture of South and North, as they considered him a true northerner, bred and raised as a wolf who sought to make all his allies strong.

And things were going very well, the houses were filling up with money and food that was going to be good for the winter, but a little fact to note is that the northern climate was helping to plant various foods that are grown in warm climates, the northern temperature was in a neutral state, but with some things such foods could be grown, and no one knew how Harry came up with such things.

They just followed him.

The noble houses that were once tempted by the Boltons to remove the Starks from power, discarded that idea and followed more firmly the wolves of Winterfell, they could see the capacity they had now that the dragons did not have them controlled, perhaps that was the disadvantage of the Starks in their time.

They would rather protect their people, as the dragons could attack the northerners in multiple ways, as well as send an army of all the kingdoms together against the northerners. There were many things they could think of before and after the Targaryen yoke, an extremely interesting topic to consider, but right now, the wolf was the reigning one.

They were not afraid of the deer, which right now were the current reigning rulers of the seven kingdoms, at any moment the wolf could sink its fangs into their necks, but they had to be careful with the lions. Although now they had them under control, since the second daughter of Eddard Greystark, the now called the white wolf, was going to marry the second son of Robert who would become heir to Tywin Lannister, that was the key point for the lions not to bother, since currently there was no denying that they were the most powerful house in all of Westeros, but they were making a big mistake, to let a young wolf grow up.

At fifteen Harry was much more respected than many of the southerners who were the leaders of his house, his eyes were cold, so much so that at first they would think he was someone ruthless and they would not deny it, Harry did not give second chances.

Harry was like the Direwolf emblem of House Stark, he was not as compassionate as his Uncle Ned, or as fierce as his Uncle Benjen, Harry was not a tyrant, he was a good ruler who was in the middle between pious and ruthless. You just didn't have to touch the wolf's tail, so he wouldn't bite your neck, as long as everyone understood that it would be all right, although of course there were some headaches, like the ones he had right in front of him.

The lord of House Whitehill, was furious because many of his men were disappearing and their bodies were never found, that no doubt made him furious and he came exclusively to blame House Stark for all this, as the Forrest were surely the ones behind it, and as they were loyal to House Stark since they were vassals of house Dustin he was sure they were the ones responsible.

- "Where is the Stark brat" - Was the cry of Ludd Whitehill, many of the lords who were in this place looked with fury at the subject for calling in such a disrespectful way to the lord of the north, and were tempted to remove his sword and give a lesson to the subject, the most tempted of all was Benjen BlackStark, who was not going to allow anyone to insult his nephew.

- "Ludd, first calm down to talk to my nephew" - Eddard came to Winterfell because it was the time of the monthly meetings, that the lords had with the lord of the north, and as he knew that the other lords were tempted to kill Ludd, it was better to prevent things - "I am sure that my nephew will attend to you, as to all of us."

- "I don't give a damn about your words Ned, I want to talk to the useless brat" - With that said he practically sentenced his death, several lords already took their swords and were about to draw them to cut Ludd's head off, even if it implied a punishment, but they were going to do it.

- "Everybody relax" - Harry made his appearance and those who were already ready to attack Lord Whitehill looked at his lord, but with his sword practically in hand, and his two foster sisters were pointing a bow each at Ludd, ready to shoot if they insulted their brother again - "What is it that upsets you so much Lord Whitehill, to come to Winterfell to make disturbances."

- "My men are disappearing" - What irritated an angry person the most was that the person in front of him was very calm, and that was certainly something Harry wanted, he knew perfectly well that the Lord of House Whitehill wished to kill him, he could read his mind after all - "If it was an animal he was going to leave the remains of the clothes, but there is no trace, I firmly believe that you are behind all this."

- "Blaming me for the uselessness of your men is not my fault" - With Harry's words, Lord Whitehill could not stand it any longer and removed his sword, to go against Harry, but before he can take any steps in a row, arrows pierced Ludd's legs, making him fall to his knees in front of Harry, with Ned already with a sword ready to cut off the head of the one who dared to attack his family - "Killing you would bring trouble to the north, I want all the lords to go to the godswood, bring Lord Whitehill, and Artemisia call Barbossa."

.

Forest of the Gods (Winterfell)

Winterfell's Godswood is a dark and primeval place, with three acres of old trees that have been untouched for ten thousand years. It is composed mainly of sentinels, oaks, and holy sticks but also hawthorn, ash, chestnut, elm, and soldier pines. In the center is a small pond, dark and cold, next to an ancient heart tree. It has bone-white bark, dark red leaves, and a long, melancholy face carved into the bark, with deep red eyes with dried sap.

A beautiful place to meditate and reflect, all the lords that were summoned to Winterfell were in that place along with Harry, the only ones absent were his mother who was with his sister, and Elia Martell and her children, which were not necessarily right now, as he was going to show something that was practically going to label him as a monster, but he wanted to know how these lords react to magic if they reacted very badly, he was going to erase their memories and pretend nothing had happened, but he had to make a test.

So he was thinking of the right words to start this very delicate conversation, only his masters knew he used magic so they were in this place.

- "Before I became Lord of House Stark, I discovered something that at the time terrified me" - Harry was touching the heart tree that was in front of the lake, just a few seconds, before he passed his gaze to those present - "Knowing that you had something that made you strange and turned you into a monster" - Harry started towards the pond that froze when Harry stepped in it, of course, that made more than one feel fear - "Magic. I looked for all information about it, my ancient ancestors of the Stark house possessed magic, that explained that the Targaryen, being the possessors of magic, sought to control the northerners, and for three hundred years that magic disappeared, until the union of the south and north."

Harry slowly turned and around the pond, a blue fire was created, this fire was to find out specifically if these people were willing to follow him, as no one said or did anything when they saw or knew that the pond he was standing in had frozen over.

Of course, the lords who were there realized that the rumors about the lord of House Stark being touched by the old gods were true, and at that moment Benjen BlackStark began to laugh because he remembered what happened when Harry was born, he still remembered that presence that had appeared. With this, they could confirm that they were blessed by the old gods, so their laughter was not of mockery, or anything else, but of pure happiness, while the other lords only watched Benjen, perhaps he knew something that they did not.

Harry also watched his uncle, he knew perfectly well that death announced its arrival to certain people, so it was not unreasonable that his uncle is one of these people, rather he was grateful for that because it would be a good touch for the other lords to follow him.

- "When you were born, my father, Brandon, Lyanna and I were in this place" - Benjen said remembering how his brother was tied to the tree, so he would not interrupt the birth of Ashara, he remembered that moment - "That day, someone or something appeared...and said.... the child that is about to be born...is blessed by the gods" - And Benjen walked to where Harry was, without fear, when he crossed through the blue fire, he felt cold - "Whether you are touched by the old gods or not, whether you use magic or not, you are my nephew...you are my lord...and you are the king of the north."

Artemisia and Mya saw each other, the two were bastards, although Harry tells them otherwise that was the reality, now they had the Stark surname, Ashara was like a mother to them, so they were going to follow his brother to the end of the world and crossed the blue fire without problems.

Followed Barbossa, a year ago came to the north and became the captain of the black pearl, and along with it the myth of the ghost ship, all the ships that the Greyjoy passed the limits, fell under his jurisdiction and no one ever returned, so he was more than grateful because when the north is ready, the legend of Captain Barbossa will appear and with it the symbols of the house Umber the house that spared his life when they had no reason to, and the Stark house that allowed him to show his worth.

And so successively the lords of the house closest to the mandate of the Starks, crossed the blue fire, none was forced by Harry, all were going for everything that Harry brought to the north, they did not care that in his blood runs the magic, they did not care that perhaps others label him as a monster.

The Lord of Whitehill looked with horror at all this, he knew of the myths, he knew that the ancient Starks were capable of using magic, the same masters hired them to prevent a Stark from having magic, they had to prevent a Stark from having magic because that was synonymous of danger - "The masters...they were right, the Starks and the Targaryen are monsters...they must be eliminated."

- "The maesters were behind the north being so harmed, it is my duty to punish them" - Harry waved his wand, and the blue flames, which surrounded the pond, went to where Ludd was, to surround him and consume him completely - "The flames, only kill the people who were not willing to follow me, a spell I found in the library of Winterfell" - Many knew that library was lost after the last king of the north knelt before the dragons - "I do not know to what extent I can use magic, but when the organizations that wish to see the north weak, will come for me. ...and I will need all your help."

.

High Garden (The Dominion)

Margaery Tyrell not only became more beautiful than she was but also more curious about what her betrothed was, knowing that her grandmother warned everyone not to mess with the North.

It made her much more than curious, as her grandmother was not easy to intimidate, she always did what was necessary to make her house the most powerful of all, practically the only house that surpassed them was the Lannisters because of the military might they possessed as if it came to the money they were very even, so her grandmother was never afraid to touch the tail of the golden lion. But why not do anything to the wolves, what did the wolves have that the lions didn't have, for a year she was engrossed in seeking knowledge about the north and was amazed by everything she found.

Since the Starks conquered the north, the north follows a Stark wherever it wants him to go, practically the Starks were the north and all that made Margaery search more, to satisfy her desire, even to the point of trying to persuade her father to go to the north to visit her fiancé. But her grandmother stopped her, she will meet her fiancé when the north decides, something that always attracted her attention.

- "My beloved granddaughter, after a year of searching, you are still not satisfied" - Olenna looked at her granddaughter, the hunger for knowledge and ambition was noticeable in her, and of course, she understood, in her eyes it showed - "Tell me dear...what do you wish to know...what do you wish this humble old woman to be told."

- "Why, why don't you attack the Starks, he's my age" - Margaery was to the point, and her grandmother smiled, and Olenna only looked for two letters that were sent from the north, the two times she sent her spies and they never came back, Margaery thought it was a threat, but she only saw the motto of House Stark and the motto of the north - "What does that mean?"

- "Winter is coming, is not just a motto, it is not like that of the lions who crave attention, with their superiority complex, or like the deer, who may think they are unstoppable, they are just deer, fragile animals" - Only two houses were named by Olenna so that her granddaughter would realize the difference in the motto of house Stark, with the motto of what was believed to be the most powerful house of all, and of the current house ruling the realm, there was an abysmal difference in the northern motto, there was no ambition, no superiority, that was something to be afraid of - "Winter brings death, my dear granddaughter, intense cold, a place to hide in or that provides warmth does not mean you survive....and with that comes the motto of the north, where they say the north never forgets" - Olenna took a short pause, to let her granddaughter think carefully about what might happen - "Their natural defenses are impenetrable...any army that tries to pass Moat Cailin will only serve to paint the landscape in blood."

- "I have heard that the Greyjoys have been sending ships to attack the Northerners, the Tullys were doing nothing to stop the Greyjoys" - Margaery understood why the Tullys were not doing that, the Northerners were no longer buying their food, which took a great deal of money away from the Trout, so they let the Squids do as they pleased with the North.

- "My girl, change is never very welcome, just imagine a North that no longer needs to buy food, which meant a change, of high cost" - Olenna was aware of those rumors since so far they were only that since no confirmed attack had been reported, from the Greyjoys to the Starks, so they were just that, rumors that the crown was not going to analyze because it would benefit them an attack to the north - "Although they are rumors, the ships that have the north, are not easy to describe, I do not need to send spies to the north, to know that, the hand of the king, wants a weak north, the spider in the same way....but will they be prepared for winter's retaliation."
