Arriving at the PR Manager's office, Liao Xiaoxiao unceremoniously said, "Manager Shen, there's a task for you today!"
"Director Liao, what task?" Shen Lang lazily sat in the manager's chair, crossing his legs.
Liao Xiaoxiao's face turned black with frustration. This guy didn't look like a manager at all; he resembled more of a hooligan.
"A few months ago, Lingya International did a promotion for a clothing company called 'Haisha Textile.' It's been three months, and they haven't paid us yet. We've sent people to collect the debt several times, but they've been delaying. You need to go to their company and collect the debt," Liao Xiaoxiao said indifferently.
The Haisha Textile Company she mentioned was a clothing manufacturer that owed Lingya International a significant amount for product promotion.
Every time someone was sent to collect the debt, that company would come up with various excuses. Either the boss was on a business trip or the funds hadn't been recovered yet, always finding reasons to delay.
Haisha Textile Company had a bad attitude. If someone went there to forcibly collect the debt, they might even get beaten up.
Most of the employees at Lingya International were women, especially in the PR department, so sending these girls to collect debts was indeed difficult.
Liao Xiaoxiao thought it would be perfect to assign this task to Shen Lang and let him suffer a bit.
"Okay, but is there any reward?" Shen Lang scratched his head and asked.
Liao Xiaoxiao was furious. "What reward? This is your job! You still want a reward?"
"Director Liao, collecting debts isn't really part of my job description, is it?" Shen Lang shrugged.
Surprised by his cunning, Liao Xiaoxiao felt a bit frustrated that Shen Lang didn't fall for her trick. She forced a smile and said sweetly, "Manager Shen, if you can successfully collect the debt, the company will give you a one percent—no, three percent commission!"
With that, Shen Lang became interested. "How much do they owe?"
"Over five million," Liao Xiaoxiao replied.
Shen Lang was tempted. Five million with a three percent commission meant 150,000.
He had extorted a million from Qiao Lan last time, gave 300,000 to Lin Xifu, and still had 700,000 left. He shouldn't be short on money.
But Shen Lang always felt that the more money, the better.
Although he lived at Su Ruoxue's house, not needing to spend much money, as a man, being penniless was embarrassing, and it made him feel uneasy.
Earning some extra money would be nice.
Shen Lang chuckled. "Director Liao, we have a deal. If I can collect the debt, the company will give me a three percent commission. Don't go back on your word."
Liao Xiaoxiao smiled sweetly. "Who do you think I am? I'm the director of the company. Would I deceive a little manager like you over such a small amount of money?"
This made Shen Lang's face darken, thinking, can't this girl stop being so arrogant, making him feel inferior.
Still worried that Liao Xiaoxiao might trick him, Shen Lang cautiously said, "Director Liao, write it down for me."
"Sure."
Liao Xiaoxiao happily wrote a note and stamped it with her seal.
"Alright, Director Liao, I'm off to collect the debt."
Shen Lang walked out of the CEO's office, brimming with excitement.
Liao Xiaoxiao was secretly delighted, thinking this would be a good lesson for that rascal.
Collecting debts from Haisha Textile wouldn't be easy.
"Director Liao, let me go with Manager Shen." Lin Caier hurriedly said, looking worried.
Lin Caier knew about Haisha Textile Company's situation. It was tricky.
"No need, he can handle it." Liao Xiaoxiao shook her head and sighed, "Assistant Lin, I think it's necessary to warn you. Shen Lang is unreliable. Don't be swayed by him and make sure to protect yourself."
"Director Liao, I think you have too many prejudices against Manager Shen. He's a good person." Lin Caier couldn't help but laugh. She didn't expect Liao Xiaoxiao to be so hostile toward Shen Lang, but it was fine. No one would compete with her for him.
Seeing Lin Caier defending Shen Lang, Liao Xiaoxiao was speechless. She didn't know what Shen Lang had done to charm her.
These personal matters were beyond her control. After giving some instructions, Liao Xiaoxiao took the documents to the top floor CEO's office.
Su Ruoxue was handling business in her office.
"Xiaoxiao, you're just in time. A few days ago, I discussed Haisha Textile Company's debt with the legal department. They've already prepared a lawyer's letter. We should take people to collect the debt today," Su Ruoxue said while organizing her files.
Liao Xiaoxiao's pretty face froze. "Oh no, Xiaoxue, why didn't you tell me earlier? I've already sent someone to collect the debt!"
Su Ruoxue frowned. "Xiaoxiao, who did you send?"
"Who else? The new PR manager." Liao Xiaoxiao stuck out her tongue.
Su Ruoxue sighed. "Xiaoxiao, this isn't the time for personal vendettas. The legal department has found out that Haisha Textile Company is connected to the underworld. The evidence has been handed over to the police, and we're just waiting for them to take action."
Liao Xiaoxiao's face changed, realizing she might have caused trouble. She hurriedly said, "I'll go get him back now. If he's in danger, it'll be bad."
With that, Liao Xiaoxiao quickly ran out of the CEO's office.
Su Ruoxue rubbed her temples, wondering what kind of person this new PR manager was to make Liao Xiaoxiao so hostile towards him.
Liao Xiaoxiao took out her phone and dialed Shen Lang's number.
"The number you are calling is currently switched off. Please try again later."
Shen Lang's phone had died when he left, so he couldn't receive any calls.
"Why is he turning off his phone during work hours?" Liao Xiaoxiao frowned, feeling a bit annoyed.
Chasing him downstairs, she found no trace of Shen Lang. With no other choice, Liao Xiaoxiao got in her car to pursue him.
Shen Lang had taken a taxi to the western suburbs.
Haisha Textile Company was located in an industrial park in the suburbs.
The company's building was quite impressive. Shen Lang adjusted his suit tie. Since he was representing Lingya International to collect a debt, he thought it would be best to look presentable.
"Sir, how can I help you?" The receptionist greeted Shen Lang.
Shen Lang approached the front desk and smiled. "Hello, I'm Shen Lang, the manager of the PR department at Lingya International. I'm here to discuss some matters with your boss."
The receptionist's face stiffened slightly at the mention of Lingya International. She forced a smile. "I'm sorry, sir. Our President Liu is usually very busy. You need an appointment to see him."
"An appointment?" Shen Lang frowned.
"Yes, if you don't have an appointment, I'm afraid you'll have to come back another time," the receptionist said apologetically.
Noticing the receptionist's uneasy expression, Shen Lang guessed she was just trying to brush him off.
Shen Lang took out his dead phone and pretended to dial a number, holding it to his ear. "Hello, President Liu? Yes, it's Shen Lang. Are you busy right now?"
"You're not? Great, I'm downstairs at your company. Can we meet? Perfect, I'll come up right away."
Putting the phone back in his pocket, Shen Lang smiled at the receptionist. "Miss, I just got through to President Liu on his private number. He said I could go up."
The receptionist was stunned. Shen Lang's actions and expressions seemed genuine.
"Don't believe me? Should I call again, and you can speak to President Liu yourself?" Shen Lang offered, seeing her hesitation. He took out his phone again, ready to hand it over.
"No need, sir. Please go ahead!" The receptionist waved her hands, looking embarrassed.
Shen Lang gave a calm smile. He had just been acting. His phone was dead, so there was no way he could have made a call. The whole conversation with President Liu was entirely made up.
