Strokes Of A Brush

"JENNY!" Byeol ran after Ha-Eun, hugging her from behind. "It's been so long!" Byeol cried her eyes out.

"It's been literally 20 minutes since we've seen each other." Ha-Eun was looking around, embarrassed because everyone was looking at the two of them. "C'mon, get off me, just go to class."

"Oh yeah, what class are you?" Byeol asks Ha-Eun.

"I'm in class 1-E." Ha-Eun pulls out a piece of paper which has a number and a class below it.

'No. 33. Class 1-E.' She shows it to Byeol.

"Aw! I'm in Class 1-C!" Byeol pouts.

"It's okay, we can still meet after class. After this, I'm going to this popular Korean chicken store near the school, want to come?" Ha-Eun asks Byeol.

"Hmm..." Byeol thinks. "Sure!"

"Well, see you at 2." Ha-Eun waves at Byeol as she walks away. Ha-Eun turns around and looks at the little piece of paper attached to a small little metal rod extruding from the wall. The paper wrote 'Class 1-E.' She took a deep breath and walked into the class.

In the class were rows and columns of chairs, all situated next to one another. Each of the table had a small number drawn on them. The number 33 was all the way at the back.

She walked past some interesting looking people, like a girl wearing several masks, to a guy with a massive mohawk. She simply ignored them and walked to her seat. She placed her bag down, laying next to her table. She took another deep breath and sat down. She placed her head on her table to ignore everyone else.

Someone walked past her and sat down next to her. "Do you know what the time is now?" A familiar voice speaks to Ha-Eun.

Ha-Eun raises her head and looks up.

It's Jae-Neung.

"It's...8 o'clock sharp." Ha-Eun points to the clock.

"Thanks." Jae-Neung doesn't look at where Ha-Eun is pointed at. "Wait, you sound familiar." Jae-Neung places his hand over onto Ha-Eun's table.

"What are you doing?" Ha-Eun looks at Jae-Neung's hand, they're filled with veins and little stains of colors, just like his shirt.

"Wait, you're that girl from earlier!" Jae-Neung's expression changes to surprise. "Hey!" Jae-Neung lifts his hand up for a high five.

"Yeah..." Ha-Eun awkwardly high fives him back.

"Isn't it so cool that we met earlier but now we're sitting next to each other?" Jae-Neung smiles at Ha-Eun. He was a really charming smile and he has a mole underneath his lip, which makes his smile really pop out.

"Yeah, sure." Ha-Eun looks back at the class as an entirety. There's more students coming in now, they're all dressed in the same uniform as them, except for one.

"Where is your uniform?" The teacher walks behind the student. She's clearly seen better days. She's wearing shorts and a crumpled white T that had never touched an iron in its entire existence.

"Huh?" The girl looks back at the teacher, digging her ear with the pinky. "I woke up late." The girl just turns around and yawns, taking her seat in the first chair she approaches.

"It's literally the first day." The teacher sighs as she walks up the one step separating the teachers desk from the rest of the room and walks to the podium. "Good morning everyone. I am your homeroom teacher, Ms Keene." She had her tied back neatly in a bun and wore massive round glasses that hid her eyes. She was also wearing a track suit. "I am also the head of department for Physical Education. How about we start with some role call?" Ms Keene pulls out a board from underneath the podium which had the names of all the students and their assigned numbers.

The door slammed opened and another student came barging in. This time it was a boy who had long blonde hair that rushed into class. "I'm not late, you guys are early!" The boy sits down in his allocated seat of Number 1.

"Well, funny that you're number." Ms Keene looks at her list. "Connor Thorn? Is that you Mr Number 1?' The teacher looks at Connor.

"That's me alright." He's panting as he places his bag next to seat.

"Well, Mr Number 1, could you give us a little insight into your life?" Ms Keene asks Connor.

"Uhm..." Connor stands up. "My name is Connor Thorn, as you know already, and I'm apart of the Thorn Family. We own a family run restaurant, it's like, really nice. Would recommend."

"We meant about you." One student yells from the back of the class. "We don't care about your chicken shop!"

"Settle down, Mr Number 27." Ms Keene looks down at her paper. "Jona Harris?"

He's the same person that was standing in the train next to Jae-Neung.

"Yeah, my names Jona Harris." He stands up. "I'm the younger brother of Chris Harris, the student president." Jona seemed annoyed.

"Impressive." Ms Keene claps her hand. "How about we go with you then? Since you so respectfully interuppted Connor."

"I was the head captain of the basketball team in middle school! I like games and sports!" Jona Harris shouted.

"Oh shut up, we're in the same room, we can hear you." Connor says underneath his breath.

"What's that?" Jona heard what Connor said.

"Nothing." Connor looked away. "Idiot."

"I HEARD THAT!" Jona screamed at Connor.

"Class!" Ms Keene tried to stop the two of them but they kept screaming at one another.

"What are you going to do about it?" Connor stands up.

Ha-Eun tapped her table with her finger nervously, it was just the first day yet there was already a fight brewing. She looks over at Jae-Neung and he's smiling, as if he wants the fight to happen.

"Come here!" Connor jumped over another student's table and jumped onto Jona, hitting him in the chest and causing him to fall down, knocking his head on the shelf.

"Enough!" Ms Keene got out of her podium and ran towards the two students.

"You son of a b-!" Jona strikes back and lands a clean hit on Connor's face. All the students gasped and collectively got out of their seats and moved away from the two of them fighting.

"Stop fighting!" Jae-Neung lunged at Connor, causing him to fall over onto the ground.

Connor groaned but picked himself up, throwing a fist at Jae-Neung.

"He's blind! He can't fight! What an idiot." Jona thought to himself as Connor's fist was flying straight towards Jae-Neung's face.

"You're slow!" Jae-Neung grabbed Connor's hand, right behind it connected with his face. It was as if his hands moved like the stroke of a brush on a canvas, elegantly moving itself and blocking Connor's punch.

Ha-Eun looks at Jae-Neung surprised.

Jae-Neung's hand were soft and supple yet he had so much force and impact behind his fist. "Take this!" Jae-Neung pulled his fist back and launched it straight at Connor's face. The sound of his nose cracking and breaking underneath the force was horrible.
