The Practice

"So what position did you play in junior high?" Bokuto asked.

"Spiker. W-wing spiker." Kyouya replied.

Bokuto got on the opposite side of the net from Kyouya, and said,

"All you need to do is score a point."

"I'm by myself?" Kyouya asked.

"Well, Akaashi is going to be going from one side to another so he can set for both of us, but yeah, pretty much." Bokuto said.

Kyouya gulped as Akaashi served the ball and ran over to his side of the net. Kyouya tried to receive the ball, but it bounced off his arms and flew out of bounds. That happened twice, until eventually, he received the ball, and ran to spike it. Akaashi set the ball for him, and he hit it, only to find it back on the ground of his side. He looked up and saw Kuroo smirking at him.

"I'll get the next one," Kyouya said.

So he tried again. And again. And again. And again.

"Are you done trying yet?" Bokuto asked.

"One more. Please." Kyouya begged.

Bokuto sighed, and Akaashi served again. Kyouya watched the ball, following it with his eyes. He received the ball, and Akaashi set it for him. Kyouya looked at the ball, and delayed his jump. Kuroo looked surprised. The block was low. He could make it. And then, the wall got bigger. Bokuto had jumped up to block as well, covering up the hole in the wall. Kyouya hit the ball, and it ended up on the the ground again. Except, it was on the opposite side of the court.

"Bravo. It only took you nine tries and a solid forty five minutes of my time." Kuroo said, sarcastically.

"I never expected you to do a cross," Bokuto said. "Good job!"

"So, can I be on the team?" Kyouya asked.

"Well you did get past the captain of the Fukurōdani team, and their best player, me. So, I think you should be on the team." Bokuto replied. "What about you Akaashi?"

"Yeah." Akaashi said.

"But it took me so long?" Kyouya said, confused.

"What do you think there's a team for dummy?" Bokuto asked. "Akaashi!"

"I know." Akaashi said, walking towards Kyouya.

"Wait!" Bokuto screamed. "I wanna do it! I wanna do it!"

Akaashi handed Bokuto something, and Bokuto turned to Kyouya.

"Kyouya," Bokuto said, "Welcome to the Fukurōdani Volleyball Club!"

He shoved a white, striped jacket into Kyouya's arms.

"I hope you like it. Anyway, you've wasted an hour of my time already, so I need to go home."

Kyouya looked at the jacket, smiling, as his eyes sparkled.

"Aw, are you crying?" Kuroo asked.

"N-no! I was not!" Kyouya replied, annoyed.

And thus, the baby owl took it's steps toward flying higher than any other.
