Prologue: Failed Experiment
April 1919, America
In the year 1919, within the secretive laboratories of Neuralink, a chilling experiment was unfolding. Dr. Einstein, renowned for his groundbreaking work, stood alongside his assistant and the CEO of Neuralink, Tony Musk, as they attempted to push the boundaries of human consciousness.
The subject of their study was a young boy, Ivesh Zhang, hailing from Germany with Chinese ancestry. The trio was determined to achieve the seemingly impossible – to transfer a person's consciousness to that of their ancestor. As the doctor pressed a blue button, the capsule containing the sleeping boy filled with a mysterious green gas. Suddenly, a burst of sparks erupted, and the boy's body was engulfed in flames, the experiment deemed a catastrophic failure.
The news of this failed endeavor quickly spread, capturing the attention of the public and the media. In the aftermath, Neuralink faced significant financial losses, as investors withdrew their support, ultimately leading to the company's demise. However, unbeknownst to the scientists, Ivesh's consciousness had in fact connected with that of an ancient ancestor, Xiao Zhang, from the legendary Zhang Dynasty of 2 billion BCE.
This era was marked by the existence of magic and cultivation, where immortals and gods walked the Earth, setting the stage for an extraordinary journey of discovery and the unraveling of a profound mystery.
Xiao Zhang's life had been marked by hardship and adversity from a young age. As the 7th prince and the youngest among his brothers, he faced the challenges of being from a small family and an unlikely concubine, which left him with little power and influence in the imperial palace. When he was just 11 years old, his mother was poisoned due to imperial conflicts, and his father's attention and affection towards him dwindled.
At the age of 13, Xiao Zhang was sent to the borders, while his brothers were sent to the renowned Phoenix Fire Sect to study. It was during this time that a fateful encounter occurred – Xiao Zhang accidentally touched a black brick that contained the last essence of the Demon King, which connected with his soul and caused him severe pain, leading him to fall into a coma for two months.
During this time, the consciousness of Ivesh was transferred to Xiao Zhang's brain, leaving him with a multitude of thoughts and questions. Why was Ivesh unable to return to his body? Why did he possess the Demon King's knowledge? As Xiao Zhang woke up from the coma, he found himself facing a new reality, one that was shaped by the combination of his own past and that of Ivesh and the Demon King.
Reflecting on the difficulties and challenges that Xiao Zhang had faced throughout his life, the young prince made a solemn vow to himself: "Brother Xiao, you are my ancestor and family. Your pain is my pain, and your revenge is my revenge. I swear on the heavens that I will rule this world."
As he sat on his bed, immersed in the memories of the Demon King, he witnessed the epic clash between gods and demons. The gods, employing deceitful tactics, abducted the Demon Queen, compelling the Demon King to yield. The genocide that followed decimated the demon race and those who practiced their arts.
Among the remnants lay a trove of blood essence containing ancient cultivation methods, pill-making techniques, and a plethora of enchanted artifacts, from swords to spears to bows, each teeming with mystical power. The final message from the Demon King echoed a prophetic hope: that a chosen one would arise, resurrect the demon race, and reclaim dominion over the world.
