Lord of Justice and Wrath

Arthur goes back to the inn but he has become very afraid of himself for the things he had done without his awareness.

He looks at his hands that he feels have been dirtied without his knowing.

He tries to analyze the correlation between the two events.

Arthur has come to a conclusion. Whenever he sees someone and realizes that they are murderers trying to murder people around him, he will go berserk and lose consciousness.

He is still unaware of what is happening after that. Seeing the afraid face of the driver as well as Lynette, he can deduce that he was the cause of these deaths.

Arthur heaves a sigh as he really doesn't know what is happening.

He asks the system. "System, do you what's happening to me?"

The system replies. "I do. Do you want to know?"

The system wants to know if Arthur is sure as it will be quite a revelation for him.

Arthur is in deep thought before he nods. "I am sure."

The system has not answered him directly and instead he has changed Grima to a certain book. "Open the book and read it."

Arthur is curious as to why the system will not answer him directly. This is a big deal for him that is why it could not tell him. Or maybe it is hard to explain.

The title of the book is Lord of Justice and Wrath.

The book is a myth about the first magician to break out of the shackles of being a sage, Lord of Magic.

In the book, it is discussed that this magician is righteous but also easily angered. Whenever there is someone who breaks his principles and own values, that is what he considered righteous, he will be greatly angered.

This anger makes him lose control of his consciousness or at least the myth says. The book tells more that the Lord of Magic has full control of this power. He lets his body be unconscious and reach the full potential, above his current magic power.

This state of the mind and body is called the One Great Judge.

The more Arthur reads about this state, the more he feels related. It is similar to what he feels when he feels heavy about murder. He completely loses his consciousness and yet his body seems to be moving.

Is the system implying that I have the same state as this Lord of Justice and Wrath?

The system clarifies. "It is honestly weird. Having a kind of state is a prerequisite to being a Lord of Magic. Although it is possible to have a state early on, yours is weird."

Arthur's eyebrows rise and his face looks curious. "Why is that so?"

He hasn't read the entire book but he can guess that there is something more to it. States are really rare. In fact, it is only a myth to have one. No one has them in this entire continent.

However, he need to be wary. Sages know how to detect if someone has a state or not.

"States can never replicated. It is your own worldview about the world and magic. You have just ventured in magic about months ago. You clearly should not have a state."

Arthur is shocked about this answer. So he is not supposed to have this. Is this also the reason why the system did not talk about it?

"Yes. I am a mystery to you. However, when I saw your body entering that state, you have become a mystery to me, too."

The system has been really honest. It knows a lot about Arthur and his situation.

"I have one guess as to why you have that weird state. It is a rare occurrence even in the entire world."

"Reincarnation?" Arthur asks as the system has yet to say this assumption.

"It is possible."

Arthur nods as even in different kingdoms these reincarnation textbooks are banned. This is because it is an absurd claim that people reincarnate after they die. After all, the population always increases and they always think all beings possess individuality.

Though, he feels like it is dangerous to let this out of control. What if he kills anyone just because he thinks that the person deserves not to exist?

He is lucky to have met criminals so far but what if this state has activated when he was in the Great Pharmacy Guild and killed Lynette and the guards?

These thoughts have played inside Arthur's mind.

Soon, the system speaks to him. "There is way to help you make it under your control."

"How?"

"Reasoning."

The system explains to Arthur that once he thinks the person deserves to die, he has to ask himself why.

As such, he can gauge what is reasonable or not. However, this will be difficult if it is about serious breached on his principles of righteousness including murder or even betrayal.

With constant training on his thoughts, he will be able to master it.

Arthur tries to keep in mind what the system has taught him. It is important that he will not run rampant with this weird state.

While he is thinking about what to do and trying to use the reasoning technique, a knock on his room can be heard.

He opens the door and sees a person wearing a uniform. He is one of the workers in the inn he is currently living in. He seems to have rushed to this room and sweats are visible on his forehead.

"Sir, someone is looking for you."
