Grand Tower of Magic

An enormous edifice stands in a small city and many magicians are familiar to this place. Most magicians know what this edifice is, the Grand Tower of Magic. The city is also under the care of the Great Magic Council.

The Grand Tower of Magic is the central office of the magic community. This is where a lot of magicians hope and dream to go. After all, it is an opportunity to be in this city and even entry inside one of their function rooms will benefit a magician by a significant amount.

The council continues to discuss about their plan on exploring a place called Dead Forest. The reason this is the name given to it is because no one can enter this forest. A large and complex barrier covers the entire area. When they have asked for formation masters to investigate about this, they have only concluded that a Sage under the age of thirty can enter this place.

"We need to gather all magicians below twenty years old to train them personally. Regardless if they have a master or not." Dindrane suggests in the meeting.

She is only around forty years old and the youngest magician to reach the ranks of the Sage. A Sage that can control three elements and has a lot of authority even in other kingdoms. She is confident that with the guidance of the Sages, they can make an Indigo talent become a Sage in just ten years.

"How about the magician named Arthur Pendragon?" Lord Bruin taps the table with his index finger as he waits for her reply.

"T-that. Although I think he has a lot of potential, it is too late to train him to become a Sage." Dindrane is happy that someone like Arthur has a lot of potential but if they are talking about the Dead Forest, it is safe to discuss where to allocate the resources without it become a waste.

"I think so, too. However, I still think it is safe to still support him with resources but we don't need to train him personally." An old lady has added to the conversation. She is still young looking despite his age being seventy years old. She bears the name Elaine from the Astolat Family.

"I think that is a great suggestion." Lord Bruin's lips has curved into a smile.

The other Sages are quiet including Caradoc so Lord Bruin chooses not to force them into speaking. After all, if they don't have any suggestions or ways to formulate this, there is nothing he can do.

Lord Bruin falls to a deep thought before suggesting. "My instinct says that it is safe to both allocate resources and train Arthur. Even if he fails, he is still someone that has the potential to join the Grand Tower in the future."

Elaine and Dindrane can only nod to the suggestion of the Grand Tower Head. There is nothing to lose in training him as long as they don't expect much from the results.

Looking at the reports and records, there is another candidate from where the Magic Tower where he registered. A young woman with the age of nineteen. She is a young lady of the Gales Family in the Asure Kingdom.

A lot of information about various people from various kingdoms and countries in the continent. They are prospect to train to become a Sage.

Although the Sages are not sure of what is inside that Dead Forest, there is still prestige that comes along with discovering this aside from the treasures they expect to be there. There must be a reason why there is a barrier like that in that forest.

The Great Magic Council has finalized their plans for the Dead Forest and about the suggestion to build a class of magicians with Sages potential. This is a decisive and expensive meeting as this involve a large sum of money.

Lord Bruin takes a glance at Caradoc as he looks really listless. It has been a year that he keeps noticing how absent-minded he is. He has become easily angered and frustrated. What has happened to this old friend of his? He can only take a few glances before finally adjourning the meeting.

"Caradoc, come to my office." Lord Bruin wants to understand more about his friend and he also has a few tasks to give him

Caradoc follows Lord Bruin as they both walk toward the office. The office is really spacious and way beyond other offices in even empires and kingdoms. "What is it you need from me, Lord Bruin?"

Lord Bruin gives him a paper and a set of invitations. He has already prepared the invitations for the suggestion of Dindrane because he has already anticipated that they will want to form a special class for these young people with great potential and talent.

"I want you to drop these invitations to the prospects."

Caradoc's fist has been clenched tightly that a small blood seeps out from his hand. "I am not an errand boy, Lord Bruin. I am still a Sage."

Lord Bruin smiles as he stands up from his seat. He approaches Caradoc before banging his head on the table and he gets close to his ears. "Hey, you have to listen to me. I am not dumb and I may not be trying to apprehend you but I am aware of what you have done and what you are doing."

Caradoc's feet tremble as if he remembers all the things that he has done. "Please stop. I will do it. Please don't expose me."

Lord Bruin increases the force he gives on Caradoc's face. "Very good. You have to remember that I can see everything you do."

This is a specialty of Lord Bruin, using other's weaknesses in order to threat others in complete obedience. However, he has never had an opportunity to do something like this to a sage. Although he appears to be the Head of the Grand Tower, this is only a little above the authority of the normal Sage.

Lord Bruin releases Caradoc and tells him to leave the office. He then walks toward the windows as he watches the sunset with a hideous smile.
