《Imperfect power》chapter 18

Angie's POV:

"Uuuuuhh... I'm tired, you know." I couldn't help but groan in despair.

"Yeah, this week has been really exhausting. Shootings, travels, and surprising visitors." Jade joined in complaining, agreeing with my sentiment.

"Well, technically, it was a little over a week, and this 'week' started in the middle of the last week, to be honest." I wondered if we could call it a week if it started, I think, on Wednesday? I don't know.

*Brrrb, brrrb*

"Eric is texting." Jade says.

"Why does he always text you? I also have a phone." I stated aggressively.

"Aaaand where might it be right now?" she asked.

"Well... So what does he say?" I quickly tried to avoid the topic.

"I've got an important matter to attend to, you'll be in charge." Jade stated. "Seems we've got to babysit."

"Wait, are you in charge, or are we in charge? Why would he say something in a way I wouldn't understand?"

"Let's pretend like it's about both of us." she said, but I could feel the sarcasm slap me.

"We don't have to 'pretend', right? Right? I'm responsible." I tried to protect my honor.

"Of course, you are, Angie. You're even more responsible than me, and I'm already a very serious chick." It sounded like there was no honesty in those words.

POP

"So, are you girls ready? I got a strange letter with an invitation and location. It also smells like a woman's perfume, so it caught my attention." Eric said.

"What would you do if it smelled like fish, for example?" Jade asked.

"I would assume she held it in a very intimate and dear place, but without high hopes. Which I don't have right now! Just decided to dress up nicely." Eric's words held a stinging tone, indicating that he's going to try getting intimate with the woman he has yet to meet.

Well, as long as we stay informed, it's fine.

It's better than that nun situation, but he skillfully made it up to us, so we're forgiving him for his... 'sins' he had committed.

"Okay, you girls ready?" Eric asked.

"We literally had no time to prepare." I responded with frustration on my face.

"Well, I had, too bad." he said nonchalantly.

"Wait! Don't you dare-"

*Snap*

Eric snapped his fingers while Jade yelled at him.

POP

"Oh, hi girls." Lauren's voice welcomed us innocently.

"Y-yeah, hi..." I answered.

"He could've at least let us freshen up or take some things." Jade whispered to herself.

"Hey, Lauren. You look quite good for someone who... uh, fucking died?" I couldn't help but point it out.

"It was like two chapters ago; I'm a whole changed person now!" She said something weird again.

"W-what?" Jade was confused.

"Nothing, I'm just fine." Lauren's words, drawn out of her smiling face, seemed suspicious.

"Are you sure?" I insisted.

"Yeeeaahhh... The same day I was brought back, I... maybe I had a little bit of a tiny breakdown. . . but yeah, I'm fine." Lauren explained. That's more believable.

"So you weren't fine, but you are now. Good to hear. Now what about today? You think of the same thing as me?" Jade looked with that childish smug on her face.

"Girls' night out?" I asked.

"Girls' night out." Lauren confirmed.

And Christine stood still... I mean, she was sitting still.

We dressed up properly and went out. Once we reached the city, which took quite a while considering the fact that Eric's house is in the middle of a fucking forest, we began planning our routes.

"It's quite early for a 'night out', but we can still have some fun." Jade stated.

"First stop, karaoke!" I shouted.

"Really? Because not everyone here is... whatever, let's go." Lauren switched attitudes.

We entered the place, and as usual, wherever we went, people stared.

"Room for four people, please." Jade asked the lady at the reception. She handed us the keys, and we also ordered some alcohol. It's weird that they sell beer here. It's not strong, but with quite a few, you can get dizzy, I guess.

"I'm first! I'm first!" It didn't take a second for Lauren to grab the microphone once we entered the room.

"Wait, already?!" Jade was surprised.

"I was training for this very day my whole life!" she shouted at us.

*Song plays*

"Real shit?!" I got stunned.

"𝘖𝘰𝘩... 𝘖𝘰𝘩... 𝘚𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘣𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘣𝘦𝘦, 𝘪 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘮𝘦! 𝘋𝘶𝘱𝘪 𝘥𝘶𝘱𝘪 𝘥𝘶 𝘥𝘢𝘢 𝘥𝘢𝘢! 𝘋𝘶𝘱𝘪 𝘥𝘶𝘱𝘪 𝘥𝘶 𝘥𝘢𝘢 𝘥𝘢𝘢!" Lauren was living her life.

"She got that bee in her!" I said to Jade. Lauren continued with her song until the end.

"Now, you girls, who's next?!" Lauren shouted after finishing her song.

"Gurl, we're going together, but before that... Let's warm things up." I said and pulled out a small bag from my pocket.

"You see, the next song requires a little cough on the lungs, and that is why I gotta smoke." I continued while rolling one.

"I can't believe you brought weed with you." Jade shook her head with arms crossed.

"It's not much, but we'll have to share." I finished and put it in Lauren's mouth. I pulled out the lighter and lit the tip.

"Can't believe you didn't have a pipe on you." Lauren murmured while sucking in the smoke.

"Stop nagging and pass it to Jade." I argued, and as we finished, there was time for Christie.

She inhaled the smoke with a small cough.

"Eric's gonna sooo kill us!" Lauren laughed, which spread, and we all were laughing. Even Christie smiled in her own way.

"Okay, okay! Turn this thing on!" I shouted.

"𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘢 𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘮 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘐 𝘨𝘰𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘢 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘶𝘱 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘮 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘨𝘰𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩. 𝘔𝘺 𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘮 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘮𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘶𝘱, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘺..." we sang in a group.

" '𝘊𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘐 𝘨𝘰𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩 𝘉𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘐 𝘨𝘰𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩 𝘉𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘐 𝘨𝘰𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩!' We weren't really that hit by it, but it was nice to sing and smoke a little. Honestly, we were more into drinking rather than smoking.

I know this is wrong, but we even let Christine drink. She's waving around her chair, all red.

"So what's the next song? I was thinking of singing 'Green Gang' next." I added.

"Only you could suggest a song like that... what the hell?" Jade stopped, and we all turned to see Christine standing with a microphone in her hand. The music started going, and we got silenced.

"𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘰 𝘯𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰 𝘥𝘪 𝘤𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘰 𝘝𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘪 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪, 𝘧𝘳𝘢', 𝘥𝘪 𝘧𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘰 𝘎𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘰 𝘥𝘪 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘢 𝘧𝘳𝘢 𝘭𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘢 𝘐𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘯 𝘭𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘰 𝘚𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘪 𝘮𝘢 𝘤𝘪 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘊𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘰 𝘧𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘰 𝘌 𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘦 𝘭𝘢 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘢 è 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘢 𝘗𝘦𝘳 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘳𝘢 𝘮𝘪 𝘴𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘰" Christine's voice was so lively, we nearly forgot how it sounded.

Unbelievable. A rather serious scene unfolds before us she's once again playing the 'I'm actually healthy' card, but this time, we've managed to get her both drunk and high. After finishing her song, she nonchalantly took a seat, flashing us a smile.

"How does her smile manage to look both flirty and evil at the same time?" Lauren asked, shaking her head in disbelief.

"You've gotta be that girl and know that you're that girl. She's her." Jade remarked, her expression deadly serious, matching her tone.

"I know it was supposed to be a joke, but it sounded kind of cool when you said that." I commented.

"Cause I am cool." Jade added with a smirk.

Now, we find ourselves in the midst of a seemingly pointless party. Part of me wants to suggest toning it down before things spiral out of control, but truth be told, it might already be too late, isn't it?
