Chapter 5:Fuzzy

Once Grayson had completed a pile of paper for the day,he gave Glados a wave goodbye, before dismissing himself to his room, with Atlas and P-body trailing behind him.

Glados began to scour her mainframe for glitches that could be causing that strange feeling, but she couldn't find anything wrong. She glared at the monitor in absolute frustration, wondering why this was happening. She was a machine! She couldn't fall in love....could she?

Nah. Too soon for love. She felt...more "affectionate" if anything.

Glados sighs and sits in her control chair, rubbing her temples. "Ugh...I dont know what that boy is doing to me. It's like I've gone soft..." She said softly. She shook her head clear, and resumes working.

--Next Day--

"YOU DID WHAT?!" Glados yells.

Grayson mimes reloading or changing a clip "B-but how?! I thought I had control over that!" She said, starting to become antsy.

He started signing how he did it,staring with what looked like he was typing on the computer.

"Don't give me a Play-By-Play. Give me answers." Glados said furiously. He pulls out a small, bronze BB,no larger than maybe 4 cm in diameter.

"And what was wrong with their original ammo? It worked just as well." GLaDOS said. He gestures about being alive.

"You don't want me to answer that, and i AM telling the truth on this." Glados said, staring him in the eye. "Look, the next time you change the turret ammunition without MY permission,I will be taking your hands." Glados said. Grayson quickly nods, and salutes to confirm is new order. "Good. Now get going. You have a lot of work ahead." Glados said. Grayson rushes away, heading to test.

For the first time in days, the floor was not riddled with paper, and the room was barren of the towering stacks of paperwork that once stood tall and proud in the room.

Glados sighs slightly, before returning to normal duties. Grayson's room had began to collect items from Old Aperture, such as Rubix Cubes and books, who's owners were now long gone, lost to time.

For a while time fell almost still as tasks and tests began to run thin. Glados was ready to explore deeper into her own facility. But even the main AI herself feared what Cave Johnson had created in the past.

Grayson soon walks in,P-Body and Atlas trailing behind him arguing in their normal robotic dialect. "Grayson,i need to talk to you about what we would do next." Glados said. Grayson shrugs, and mimes using the portal gun to offer to run a few tests. Glados shook her head, "No,unfortunately we have reached a shortage in tests."

Grayson gave a genuine look of surprise and points to her,as if saying "You? Running out of tests?"

"Yes i know it's strange. But unfortunately you're again completing them faster than i can build them." She said. Grayson nods gently in confirmation, and then shrugs.

"I have a question." Glados said. Grayson looks at her, ready to listen. "Why did you stay?" She asked.

That question was met with a brief silence, before Grayson started talking in sign language.

"To be completely honest I am at a bit of a loss myself. Though,I feel....Loyal to you." He signs.

"Loyal? After how many times you've almost died by MY hand? Honestly you could not be THAT nice and expect it to go well." Glados replied, somewhat surprised.

"You'd be very surprised how far it goes to show even a shred of kindness. I was on the brim of death, and you very well could have pushed me off into space,or sent me to the surface without a choice. But you decided otherwise." Grayson signs.

Glados for the first time had a very small blush. Indeed it was hard to admit, but Grayson was also right. It may have been Caroline, but the feeling of being kind has made her days feel more comfortable. "I..." Glados began. She growls slightly in frustration. Swallowing her every ounce of pride, she spoke,"I suppose you are correct." She said.

Glados quickly turns to hide her shame of admitting someone other than her was correct about something. It made her shiver some at the thought of saying he was correct again.

"Do not make me change my mind." Glados warns. Grayson rose his hands, signing he will stop.

After a discussion,it was concluded that the day would be an off-day,for the first time in Aperture History. Glados got to work assembling new tests with the wealth of information they had processed. Grayson decided to return to his room and sleep for a few hours. Glados bothered him at about 5:00 PM. "Grayson,i have been studying your record. You mention marijuana in your list of Healthy habits. Are you certain of this?" She asked.

"Why do you ask?" Grayson signs.

"In recent revelations,I have discovered a program that uses favored substances or foods as a reward for consecutive testing. It may prove beneficial to us soon." Glados said.

"So in other words. I test, you give me Aperture brand weed. And you possibly get a sustainable fuel." Grayson signs.

She nods.

"How many tests?" He signs.

"How about 40? Ill be somewhat generous and provide to go marijuana products for every 20 tests you do."

"By the way,how aware are you that i smoked weed in the past?" He signs.

"I know enough to make it a reward dont i?" She asked.

Grayson nods softly.

Grayson soon dismissed himself, going back to his room as Glados worked. She hoped this would provide more incintive to at least assist in making tests.

After a few hours of snoozing,Grayson was awakened by Glados sitting on top of him, straddled over his lap. "Shut up. I know what it looks like." Glados said. Suddenly her face was mere inches away from Grayson's,"You know..." She said.

"Humans have always made me curious." She said, running a hand up his chest,"Why they're so squishy..." She said, her voice suddenly starting to take on a sultry tone. Her breath tickled Grayson's lips from the proximity. "Give me one good reason why I should continue.." She said, pulling away to let Grayson lean up some.

Grayson sweats nervously, trying to mime out a good reason for Glados to continue. In interest she reads his signing with a frightening amount of attentiveness.

After about 10 minutes of stumbling over his own words,Glados gently pushes his hands down,"Rest. You don't seem to have a resolve yet. Answer my question tomorrow, when you've had time to think it over." She said, getting off of him,and leaving.

Well that was strange....

Grayson didn't trouble himself long with an answer for Glados,as he fell back into his deep slumber.
