**Roguish Bearing

"Okay, I'm ready. Let's go," Jenny said as she dabbed the rest of her tears with her handkerchief — temporarily relieving her from her guilt. She stood up from her seat, and her face glowed anew with their findings.

Earlier, Jenny and Lucas double-checked the list and photos but didn't find anybody that looked similar to the artist's sketch. She also found out that her coach survived the whole ordeal along with a female companion, which only lifted her spirits even more.

Lucas held out his hand to help Jenny stand up, but the crazy koala decided to dive straight into his chest — snuggling like the crazy koala that she was.

"We're going to find her, right? She's alive, right?" she asked, her persona, mile-long different from her crying-mess self a few moments ago.

Lucas tucked a loose hair behind her ears and replied with his customary "Mmm."

"Heeeey, you're squishing me," she complained, squirming under the firm hug of the man who was a head taller than her, yet she chose to hug him back tighter.

The truth is, it was always Jenny who initiated everything between them, from their little touches to their stolen kisses...it was always her.

And as Lucas voluntarily wrapped his arms around her, it was sweeter and more special than any other rawness that they had.

"Let's stay like this for a while, can we?" Jenny asked under the comfort of his warm cuddle.

She wanted to ask him why he's acting different this morning but realized there would be a perfect time for that.

"Jenny…Jenny..." he called out to her, his voice soft and insecure. She instantly pulled away from their envelope and cupped his face, "Are you ok? What's wrong?"

Lucas flashed his gummy smile and said, "Nothing, you smell nice," nuzzling his chin on the crook of her neck, savoring the aroma of rose petals and patchouli soap on her skin.

But it was true... Jenny was right. Something was wrong, and it all stemmed from him. He could feel the impending disaster, the truth, hiding under the dark abyss of the Capital's territorial waters.

Lucas pulled back to look straight into Jenny's eyes and said, "We will find her, okay? We will find her for you. It will take a while, but we will." Lucas let his guard down and once again showed his vulnerability and desperation to the only person whom he could show it to: Jenny Huang.

Jenny smiled and peppered Lucas's face with kisses. He squinted his eyes at the frenzied attack of affection when she smugly said, "Of course I knew you would." Her vote of confidence should wash away his worries, but it didn't.

Lucas lifted her to sit on the table, leaning closer that his forehead touched hers. He held her hand that was clasped on the rim of the table and closed his eyes as he used his remaining senses to remember every inch of Jenny's being.

The smell of her skin...

The sound of her voice…

And the touch of her lips…

All of it belonged to him.

His thumb brushed against the back of her hand while he planted a tender kiss on her soft and sweet lips, but it was still not enough. Lucas grabbed the small of her back and smashed his lips on her, pushed her mouth open, and devoured her like a lone wolf in the forest that finally found his prey.

Jenny pulled away and mumbled, "Lucas, the door…"

He reached for the light switch in the meeting room and kicked the door behind him shut, and of course, a glint of wolfish grin escaped his face.

Jenny squeezed her legs, the roguish bearing of Lucas excited her. 'Where has my wallflower gone?' she thought to herself, but it quickly vanished into thin air. It didn't matter where that wallflower is or if it did exist in the first place because right now, she liked this dangerous wolf better.
