Chapter 28

Flying through the air a multitude of thoughts were passing through Grant's mind.

"If I can absorb othe superior dragons as well..."

His heart started beating faster, if he was able to upgrade all of his affinities to other elements the.....

Having made up his mind, Grant arrived at the imperial capital.

"Sir!"

Grant nodded at the guards who greeted him then he went straight to the place his wyvern was kept at.

When he arrived at the garden, Grant stoped as he stared at the familiar figure standing beside the wyvern.

It was the woman in armour.

Looks like she woke up during the time he was away.

Grant approached her with steady footsteps.

"Hero..."

The woman in armour said as she went down on one knee, her eyes behind the helmet were filled with gratitude.

"I am glad to see that you have recovered."

Grant said as he jumped on the wyvern's back.

"You going back so soon?Hero?"

The woman in armour asked in a hurry as she backed off to let the wyvern take flight.

"Indeed the Empire will be facing a major battle soon and I need to be present....."

Grant stopped as he gave her a deep look before continuing.

"In the future I promise to fullfill any one of your wishes as long as it will be within my capabilities."

Grant handed her his family token and then left on the wyvern.

------------------------------

"What in the world happened here....", Root said as she looked down at the Meiris Lake.

Although it looked fine on the surface, being a superior dragon she was able to identify the massive trace of mana still left in this place.

"Waterfall....."

Root's eyes turned sharp, she was unable to sense Waterfall's presence at all.

If she was just dead then it wouldn't have been a proble as superior dragons can revive but this...

'Its like the existence of Waterfall itself was erased...'

Root was getting a bad premonition regarding this.

-------------------------------

"Should I go back to the empire and check out superior dragon Sand Wave before returning to the battlefield......"

Grant while sitting on the back of the wyvern.

There was still some time before the army reached Stella fort, and if he were to hurry then Grant may just be able to visit the Empire before reaching the place.

Just then.

'Hm?'

A massive disturbance in mana caught his attention.

*Roar*

The wyvern let out a roar as he started flapping its wings around in a crazy manner.

"Calm down!"

Grant frowned as he shouted and injected mana into the wyvern's back.

His efforts bore fruits as the giant lizard somewhat calmed itself, still Grant was clearly able to feel it's body shaking in fear while looking at the direction they just came from.

Grant looked at the direction the wyvern was staring at.

'Something is following us.'

Grant concluded as the disturbance in mana kept getting more and more chaotic, he could feel the elemental spirits of water warning him about the approaching threat.

"Let's see who it is."

"[Heightened Vision]"

As mana spread through his eyes, his already inhuman vision increased by several fold.

'This....'

And what appeared in his vision was.

'Isn't that...'

Was the nightmare that roamed the world, a calamity which engulfs any and everything.

"Black spider of calamity?Mio?"

A strange look flashed pass Grant's eyes as he controlled the wyvern.

"Take us down."

Grant commanded, although the wyvern was clearly unwilling, it still nonetheless moved towards the ground.

Getting off the wyvern's back, Grant waited on the spot, from it's movement, he could conclude that the black spider of calamity was without a doubt coming towards him.

And it's speed was quite fast as well......

*Tremble*

The earth underneath, Grant's feet trembled as if an earthquake was approaching, the elements in the atmosphere ran away replaced by spirits of darkness.

If kring the shaking wyvern behind him, Grant took a step forwards and looked straight at the calamity.

"I had almost forgotten about you."

In an disorderly voice the black spider of calamity replied.

"F-O-O-D"

The corners of William's mouth twitched as he saw the visible saliva dripping out of her mouth.

'What? Don't tell me that I look like a hamburger to her.......'
